okay, well little bear was born april 15, 2007. he's little over 10 months old and he's TINY! he weighs, on average, around 22 pounds. he's plenty healthy and looks fabulous (vet confirmed he's perfectly healthy; over concerned mama over here), but every other corgi i see? sheesh... my mom's is like 30 pounds (in little bitty corgi bodies, 8 pounds is a LOT) and my friend's corgi is like 40 (he's old). and they're both tall! he still almost looks like a puppy.

so how big is your little person? i love how little he is, though. just gotta add that. he's just that much more cute...

Our Lockett just turned 2 and she is only about 20-22 lbs and she has a small frame. She's a red and white pembroke corgi. She does have a very healthy appetite though and the vet says she's healthy. She was spayed last month so we're watching her weight closely.
Tank was around 24 pounds 6 month ago when he was a little over a year and a half and the vet asked us to drop his weight in order to keep him healthy and fit. We started measuring his food and he is now around 22 pounds which the vet was thrilled with. Since corgis are so long but short they are prone to becoming overweight very quickly which can cause major damage to their spines if they were to jump and land in a weird way. From what the vet said it is better to have an under weight corgi, they will be healthier and live longer!
I keep thinking the same thing about Bella. She will be a year old on 3/31, and last time I checked she was 23 lbs, and every other corgi I see has a wide and very dropped chest. Her chest is still about 4-5" off the ground. We did buy her at 6 months, and she was only 10 lbs because she was living in a cage, so she has grown a lot in 5 months. I've heard that they aren't fully grown until 14 months, and the read the average female corgi weight is 25 lbs. If thats the case, then maybe she'll look like the other corgi's.
my corgi is 16 pounds and she is a year and half,
she's a bitty baby, lol! i think you win for lightest corgi, haha!!! now i feel silly for asking if little bear is a runt, you win!!!
yeah I forget how small she is untill I see a corgi that is normal size, she is like a mini corgi
They do vary in size. Sadie is a solid 26lbs at 6 years old, and Rolo is 5 mos and around 15lbs. Rolo's mom was really tiny... looked to be about 20 lbs, but his dad was a hulk at 30lbs.

Any chance you got hold of a Dorgi? I hear they look just like corgis only smaller.
A Dorgi is a hybrid introduced by Queen Elizabeth when one of her corgis mated with Princess Margaret's dachsund. She coined the "Dorgi" name.

I had it wrong tho... There is at least one breeder I know of who has worked with the hybrid and come up with a true breeding dog that look and acts just like a corgi but is a LOT smaller... I was thinking it was a Dorgi... but my bad... it's actually called a Cojak. A Corgi-Jack Russel Cross. I was seriously considering one, but the Jack Russel part scares me a bit. They are UBER-hyper.

Has anyone seen one in person? Here's a link:

nope, he's a full blown corkster.
Breed standard is 25-28 lbs for adult females and 28-30 lbs for adult males. Little Bear is almost exactly the weight Edison (also a tri) was at that age- it's sort of a gangly adolescent phase when they have their full frame size but not all the meat they'll have on their bones.

Main point is, Little Bear sounds perfectly normal. I find this entire set of postings hilarious given that obesity is a serious problem for the breed (long spines + insatiable appetites + severe amounts of cuteness and ability to manipulate the human = problem). Rejoice in your healthy puppy. :)
Maddie is almost a year and a half old and she is 15 pounds (which she has been since she was 8 or 9 months old). The vet has said she's "slightly" overweight, but it doesn't make any sense to me since I thought most female corgis weighed anywhere between 20 and 25 lbs.
My corgi is only 20 pounds and she's 1 year and 8 months. She's very healthy though, and i think some corgis are just smaller than others. Although males usually grow larger and weigh more than females, so your little guy might still gain some weight in the next few months. But i wouldn't be worried. It's more of a problem when corgis are overweight; they are prone to obesity because of their body shape.
