I thought it would be fun to talk about our Corgi quirks. I'm sure everyone has them as corgis are quite the characters!!!! Share one or a couple quirks about your corgi that makes you laugh or is out of the ordinary.

Pooh LOVED the blow dryer!!!! Loved! He would crawl in my lap every time and I think the only reason he tolerated bath time was because he would get blow dried after! If I didn't blow dry him or I ignored him, he would scratch at my leg or howl at me. lol
Copper on the other hand, HATES the blow dryer and the first time I bathed him, I got him out of the tub, held the blow dryer as far away from him as my arm could reach (he was in my arms) then let him sniff it. It's a really quiet blow dryer, too. I turned it on low and slowly brought it closer to him. YOU WOULD HAVE THOUGHT I WAS BEATING HIM TO DEATH!!!! lol I'm surprised animal police didn't show up and arrest me. He was Yiping and twisting and wriggling and it was sooo funny because he is sooo dramatic.

Copper is the actor and the self entertainer. He is dramatic about EVERYTHING!!! And if I don't pay attention to him he will throw the toy for himself and run as fast as he can around the apartment being ridiculous. He has also whipped the toy at me as in "Play with me, mom! I'm bored!!! lol I'm sure there is other things I can add later.

Hell hath no fury like a corgi with a vacuum cleaner.
Our nozzles are full of tooth marks. I have to put the dogs outside in order to clean. This pains me, depriving them of their favorite prey.
Once, before I fenced the yard, Gwynn ran off at night. After maybe 15 frantic minutes, amid growing panic, a lightbulb clicked on in my feeble brain! I rushed into the basement, left the door open, and turned on the shop-vac. She had her teeth sunk into the nozzle in 7.32 seconds.
And then there's the thing about soap bubbles and umbrellas...
Sounds like my boy Clank would consider your guys as soulmates. This nine-month old pup has been stalking the vacuum cleaner since the first time I turned it on in his presence. He chases the Hoover upright around and tries to chomp on the front while I vacuum. He probably thinks he's biting it on the nose!

His big brother Ratchet, by contrast, thinks the vacuum cleaner is Satan and runs for another room when it comes out of the closet. Go figure.

Clank's all-time favorite toy is the floor mop. As soon as it hits the floor, he's there to supervise. This managerial activity involves grabbing the mop head and dragging it around the floor. Apparently, he's got a much better idea for how to wash the floor than I do. If I lay the mop on the floor, he'll try to drag it off, handle and all. What a nut case!

Gotta love those quirky Corgis.

Oh and does anyone else out there have a Corgi who likes to do yard work? Clank picks up every bit of detritus and hauls it around. (pine cones, fallen branches, sticks, you name it, he'll clean it up for you.
Do share about the soap bubbles and umbrellas.... lol ya can't leave us hanging. Oh yes, Pooh loved to attack the vacuum. Copper is still terrified of it but it's only a matter of time....
I love the nose nudging, they are some bossy creatures.
Oh, there are no end to the quirks! But a few of my favorites:

1. Edison has a habit of picking up all his toys, piling them in one spot and then sitting on them, doing a wonderful imitation of a dragon in his lair.

2. He's also got the idea that he is obeying a "stay" command, so long as his butt remains planted in the same spot. You can see the loophole here. One night in Novice (a pre-competition class that we attend occasionally), he was in the middle of a three minute sit-stay when he decided that the best way to investigate an interesting noise while remaining obedient was to do a perfect 180 turn, pivoting on his fluffy butt. There was much debate between the other dog owners over how many points that would have cost him in competition.

3. Edison cannot resist licking a human face in range. We must be YUMMY. If we lie on the floor to do back stretches, we're sure to get a complimentary corgi exfoliation in the process. :)
Archie is a talker and will "speak" to my hub every day when he gets in from work, if hub does not answer, Archie gets louder and louder until someone speaks to him or tells him to be quiet!
My 5 month old grandson lies on the floor on a big rug, and kicks his legs, Archie has to lie in the line of fire and get kicked repeatedly on the nose, even when we move him he comes back to get kicked!
Bertie Wooster does not like tape measures (you know, the metal ones that zip back into their own little containers). The electrician was here today, and anytime Bertie (who was upside down in deep sleep, draped across Ethel's little pink bed) heard the tape measure out, he leapt to his feet and defended the house from this marauder! With barks. In the doorway. No need to get...too...close...no.

He also bites trees. If we're walking in the woods, and he can't find any squirrels to chase, he starts biting trees. I can only imagine the comments made when the naturalists who oversee these preserves try to figure out what sort of weird animal has left these bite marks.
Jack knows that if I'm actively playing with him, I'll engage in chase or a game of kicking a ball for him. But if I'm watching tv or reading and he has any hope of getting me to toss a tennis ball up the hall, he knows he has to drop it where I can reach it without moving my lazy butt.

One night I was doing some stretches on my back on the floor, and Jack started dropping the tennis ball near me and grumbling. I ignored him, and he kept nudging the ball closer and closer til he wedged it under my neck. He then proceeded to make Wookie noises at me and I can only imagine him thinking "My God, woman, how lazy can you be?! It's right THERE. You don't even have to MOVE!"

When Jack is playing he frequently runs around with one tennis ball in his mouth while he chases another. Maddie finds this maddening and will try to steal the ball right from his mouth. Once, somehow, she succeeded and Jack looked at me like "What the heck. Did you see what she did???"
I know that there are MANY, I just can't think of them right now. Two that come to mind belong to our little alpha dog KC. First of all yes we are bad corgi parents, our dogs do not sleep in their crates at night unless we are visiting. Generally they spend the night under the bed until my husband gets up for work then all three dogs take over his side of the bed for the remaining two hours until I get up (I have a feeling there are going to be some major issues when my husband goes out of town for work in a couple of months and will only be home on weekends for the next couple of years) anyhoo, KC does occasionally, when the mood strikes her highness decide to sleep with us. Usually if she thinks I am touching my husband, she gets on the bed and lays down between us. The quirk here is that she feels the need to "fluff the pillows" which is really funny since she very rarely actually wants to share our pillows she prefers to stick her head in between our pillows flat on the mattress. Her other quirk concerns my husband (have we caught on yet that she is a daddy's girl?), when he comes home from work he has about 5 minutes to acknowledge her and give her the attention and hugs she considers her due before she gets mad and will literally ignore him for the remainder of the night until bed time. Or at least until he hunts her down and apologizes profusely for his mistake. Although she does tend to still snuggle up to me when we go to bed that night just to prove to him that she is still miffed. It doesn't last long before she is back on his side of the bed but it is still funny to see.
I don't lock Copper up at night in his crate anymore either. He doesn't need to be locked up anymore. He basically only have his crate because he likes to sleep in there sometimes and I do take it with me places if, say, me and my mom are leaving her house for a bit. I love how corgis pick their people. Although Copper loves his dad, he is a mama's boy all the way.One day, my boyfriend was petting Copper while Cop was standing at the bed, my bf said "Who's your favorite person, buddy?" Without skipping a beat, Cop turned around and walked over and snuggled me and stared my bf down. lol I love it!!!!
Milo has quite a few quirks. He's very vocal, especially when he's stretching or just woke up. He makes a Chewy (from Star Wars) type sound. It's adorable.

He, unfortunately, loves to eat fabric. No matter what, he tears most toys up instantly. We have to throw them away super quick, so now mostly buy strong rubber ones (the Orka toy and Kong). He will even chew up his towel in his crate at times. Beyond the chewing fabric, he also loves to suck on it. He'll fall asleep with his crate down in his mouth, sucking away. He will also try and suck on clothes if you're wearing a buttoned shirt that isn't tucked in.

The really weird quirk is ears. He's obsessed. That's the first thing to go on any toy, regardless. He also LOVES giving wet willies, now even to strangers if he can reach their ears.

He also loves to chew wood sticks while out on his walk. We're actually taking him to the vet for a normal check up on Saturday, and are going to ask if that is anything to be concerned about. Anyone have this issue?
Lola is scared of the man-hole-type covers on the side walk. She will NOT walk on them, she walks around them at all costs (SO ANNOYING!).

She is not a fan of feet... she will run away, growling, at them if you get them too close to her, or if you even move your feet when you're not that close to her.

She has other things, but these are the two that stick out! She's got some issues, but we love her for them!
