So, to make a long story short, my corgi Daxter has had some pretty annoying allergy symptoms for most of his life. He gets super itchy and has even gotten to the point of having put on antibiotics, because he itched himself so bad that his skin got infected. He's two years old now, and his allergies this year are the worst they've ever been. My vet decided that he needed to be put on prednisone, and needless to say, I wasn't too happy about it. I've had Dax on several different types of food, from Canidae, to Taste of the Wild, to Orijen, to Dick Van Patten LID diets and his skin conditions never got any better. I've decided to take a leap and try a dehydrated raw food from the company Addiction. It's a New Zealand based company who's food has been recognized by the Whole Dog Journal as their top Dog food for that last couple of years. The type of food that caught my interest was their raw dehydrated Brushtail formula (if you don't know what New Zealand Brushtail is, Google it, it might surprise you.) The reasons as to why I decided to try it is 1) the main protein is Brushtail, which has the highest levels of Omega's in any red meat, and is not found in any other dog food (that I know of anyway). 2) No rice or grains, just potato. 3) it has very few ingredients. and 4) it's raw, which is one of the best and most natural ways to feed a dog. I've had Dax on this food for a couple weeks now, and I haven't really seen any results. I'm starting to lean towards an airborne allergy more than a food related allergy. Therefore, with my new theory as to why he's so itchy, I've decided to try another product. Its called Health Concerns Skin Balance, it's an all natural herbal medication that you give 2-3 times a day. Its designed to remove heat, dampness and toxins from the skin and blood. From what I've read about it, people have had great success with their itchy dogs (and cats!). So my question is, has anyone else tried either the Addiction raw dehydrated Brushtail formula or the Health Concerns Skin Balance herbal remedy, and what were your results on your own itchy corgi???
