Hi everybody, i am looking for a crate for my puppy who will be arriving in a week and a half (SO excited) and i was wondering whether you would reccommend an airline carrier crate, or wired crate. I have heard good and bad things about both. I am looking for something to fit him even when he becomes and adult. Also any reccommended sizes would help. I was thinking a 30x21x22.Also, what type of crate do you use? and which do you think helps with housebreaking and calmness for the dog (first few weeks away from littermates and mother)

Thanks

I have this crate for my corgi and absolutely love it! It is made by Pet Gear and is called "The Other Door" Steel Crate. I actually have two. I have the smaller one for downstairs and the next size up for upstairs where he sleeps. It opens like a garage door, has a side door and a top door. It has wheels which is nice so you can move it and clean your floors or whatever. Also, I like it because you can collapse it and take it with you if you go someplace. I purchased my from PetSmart on clearance, but you can also find them on ebay etc. I have even seen some of the handlers at shows have them.

If you just want some information on them you can go here... http://www.petgearinc.com/product_info.asp?id=27
Buddy has a wired crate that has a door on each end and one on the side. It's a little over kill with the doors, but we can put it anywhere and next to anything with all the doors! haha. We are actually thinking about getting a plastic crate for travel purposes, so if you travel a lot you may just want to get a plastic one so you dont have to double up. The wired crates are pretty heavy!
