Has anyone heard of TropicClean? I picked some up from the pet store a couple of weeks ago. Sally my rescue really needs her teeth cleaned and we were going to have it done in May when she was spayed. The vet couldn’t do it because she almost died on the table and he had to bring her out of the anesthesia right away. She is only 3 but has had very bad breath and tarter build up. Anyway this clean teeth gel really seems to be working. I am going slow just to be sure won’t give her any other issues but her breath is much better and teeth are looking better too! It is 100% naturally derived with Purified Water, Grain Alcohol, Natural mint Glycerin, Natural Cleanser, Aloe Vera Leaf Juice, Carbopol Chlorophyllin, & Green Tea Leaf Extract.
It claims to: “Works fast and naturally to help reduce plaque and tartar on dogs and cats - no toothbrush required. A proprietary blend of natural, holistic ingredients produce a healthy oral environment. Kills the germs that cause bad breath, plaque and gingivitis. Soothes minor gum irritations.”
It really seems to be working, my husband even commented on how much better Sally’s breath was. I’m happy to find something so we don’t have to put her anesthesia again. Oh and she likes it!!
do you just rub it on? My 2 will not let me brush at all, I am not sure about rubbing! They are both rescues and appear to have mouth and foot issues. The lady who comes to do their nails (I cannot drive at the moment and they will not let me near their feet) sells Petzlife oral care gel and spray. she says that the gel can be rubbed on, I was thinking of purchasing some of both, or having her show me the product on the dogs - the gel is grapefruit extract...HUH??? That website (I was there very short time just a minute ago) made reference to Michael Vic (SP?) so is that good or bad? the gel is $25 and the spray is $22. I don't like the fact that I cannot buy in a store, this lady is nice, very holistic (which is good) and I like the idea of a spray but I don't know anyone who has used it. So...another option.

I am also putting that stuff in their water that helps reduce plaque regularly now since finding out that they had tarter 6 months post tooth cleaning - I have bought the stuff at petsmart, petco and 1-800 petmeds, all about the same, I think. The nail lady also sell some!

We had Sonny and Lucky's teeth cleaned (cost us a small fortune!) in December and already need to be done again, Sonny does not chew at all, Lucky has started chewing so his tarter is getting better with his chewing. You were wise to wait on the cleaning, Lukcy woke up during his, the vet gave more anesthesia, it was his accupuncture vet and she does not keep overnight, so we broght home a dog that I thought we were going to lose. I spent the night on the floor with him, ready to call the emergency vet 50 mile away. I like this vet for accupuncture, but will not use for cleaning agian, even though she is 1/2 the price of our other vet.
Yes you just rub it on and they lick repeatedly and it says that this is normal and helps the gel mix with the saliva and coat all the surfaces of your pets teeth and gums. They say that brushing will make it work faster but I haven't brushed her teeth and it has been working. I'm pretty sure that is was under $20.00 if I find the receipt I'll let you know. I'm really impressed and so happy because I'm afraid to put her under again and I know how important it is for the dog to have a healthy mouth!
I must have had a busy week and missed this discussion...thanks...I need to look into something for Teddy and Jackson!
the "nail lady" comes tomorrow, she swears by her product for the teeth. I still am unsure about grapefruit extract and the Michael Vik connection. My husband just rolled his eyes! Maybe I should just but grapefruit...I can see it now. Will let you all know if I try it out!
