Hi, Logan is just 4 months old and growing like a weed! He's 14 lbs and looks bigger every day. He back of his ears seem to be getting red. His dad was a red-headed tri. How much of a color change do they get?

Hi Mary Ann
Logan is adorable! Ruckus is almost 7 months old and he is going through quite the color change as well. His ears and the top of his head are now red/black and he is starting to get more and more red in on his shoulders and hips. Both of his parents were red heads and he was the only tri in the litter. I have photos on my page stretching from 2 weeks to 6 1/2 months if you'd like to take a peek and see how Logan might change as well. People who have seen Ruckus have said he will end up with his head mostly red, but I guess only time will tell.
Ruckus is cute...good name! We'll have to compare pics in a few months and see what develops!
Thanks :) I'm curious to see what Logan will look like
I have a four month old male tri and his head is getting redder! His ear tips are not as black as Logan's Back of his eyes are now red laced with black! I guess they keep changing !
Thanks for the input. I guess we'll have to wait and see.
Wish I knew...all I have noticed is that I can see the undercoat more (which is lighter in color) on back of my 6mth's ears.
Arthur changed quite a bit but not in colors.. he got additional markings. His black saddle got a red patch in the middle and the top of his head got a black band, sort of V shape, running between his ears. Quite attractive to me.
When I got him from the shelter he was about a year and half. He's now close to 10. Most of the marking changes were finished by the time he was 4 or 5 but were a complete surprise to us.
We just got a little tri female and her head is mostly dark right now. Her dad was a red and her mom a tri. The mother had a fully red head and the rest of her was typical tri. The breeder showed me a picture of the mother as a pup and she had the same markings as our pup zoey. Dark head and all. The breeder said most of her tri pups end up with a more red head when they get older. So that may be true for most tri colors or just of the breeder.
