hey everyone!!!! i was wondering, what tricks all of your furr babys know? how did you teach them tricks? what rewards do you use?

i taught my little kirby a lot of tricks. mostly using tug of war as a reward instead of treats. here is a

list of his known commands:

sit
stay
kennel up (go to his kennel)

roll over
do the wave (like at a sports arena)
spin
stop, drop, and roll (had to teach him fire safety)
goodbye (sit, and wave one paw to signify saying goodbye)
bang (play dead)
zombies (wake up from playing dead after a few random words until i say zombies)
over (jump over something)
lets go (walk on loose leash)
down (lie down)
go upstairs
go downstairs
go potty
go outside
speak
touch (touch an object that i am holding or pointing at)
high ten
low five
give me a kiss
daps (like high five but he placed both paws on my fist)
get your rope
get your frisbee
leave it (had him perfectly trained to leave it at 4 months)
come here

eyes (look at me)

fetch

load em' up (get into the car)

(attached is a video of him doing stop, drop, and roll. please excuse the messy background, my siblings are think they were raised in a barn)

BANG...means drop to your side, flat out, head down, and don't move til I say you can!!!

Watch Me...they are to stand, sit, whatever but ears have to be up and eyes staring at me without moving any other part of their body except the head to show expression.

Catch or Throw...playing ball with the group, throw the ball they run before my toss to get to it but if I say their name and catch they won't run but wait for it to get tossed in the air for them to jump to catch it.

Outside...the name I call is the only one to go out the door..if I say back, they know the back yard, if I say side, they go to the side yard. When walking up to the house, walk means to walk up to the house..not run.

STOP..during play, if I yell stop, everyone stops whatever they are doing and sits til I command them differently.

Bed..go upstairs to a room.

Cookie..well thats an easy one.

Treats...have all 10 infront of me and the one I call their name out is the only one to catch the treat.

Downstairs...means to the puppy room to designated crates.

Mine are more of control exercises since I have so many in the house then they are tricks. OH YEAH...Bruiser, my latest pup from my Aug. 9th litter knows one but isn't appropriate here. LOL

wow!!! they are smart!!!  its always good to have control commands :) when kirby and i went to obedience school, they stressed the importance of distraction proofing, and i was grateful for that :) only three out of 8 of us graduated, kirby was having a little trouble because a golden retriever was flirting with him...but we still passed with flying colours :)

Wendy your amazing.. i wish i had just a small amount of your fortitude..with my one dog!

Carly is so bull headed , i sure hope she settles down soon, shes almost a yr. Jan 15 whew !! what a  challenge for me.. i walk her everyday, sometimes twice, and still the distractions are unbelievable.

i had her spayed last week, heres hoping i can take her back to CGC obedience training with more success this time..

id love to see her learn a few more tricks , yours are fun..

"See how smart my dog is."

Sit dog before you, show dog a treat in open palm, hide hands behind back, as if switching the treat in a shell game.

Present closed fists to dog. You must train or subtly cue the dog to always choose the EMPTY hand first.  Then the dog gets the treat from the other hand.

"See, she's so smart, it never takes her more than 2 guesses."

ROFL!!!

Great trick!!!

Ein does:

Sit

Stay

Down

Roll over

Watch Me

Come

Shake

High Five

Which One? (Put a treat in my hand behind my back and he touchs one of my closed fists to reveal the treat)

Spin

Stand Up

Up (He jumps into my arm so I can carry him)

Kisses

Leave it

Fetch (He brings to toy back to my open palm)

Catch

Inside voice (My favorite, when he is barking in the house I tell him use your inside voice and he lowers his barking to almost a mumble)

Lets go bye bye

Hands up! (I make a gun with my fingers and he jumps up with both front paws in the air)

Go to your seat (in the car, he goes to the passager side seat and lays down)

Business Trip! (While taking him potty outside he know this means potty only, no monkey business)

Go get _____ (I tell him to go get a member of the family, includeing the other dog and he will go to them and try to herd them to me)

Go tell daddy (When he comes to me barking because he wants to go outside and I want my fiance to take him I tell him to tell daddy so he barks at him instead of me)

Bedtime bone (I give a greenie everynight before bed, he knows this means it is time to go to bed)

Pet Store (We are going to the pet store)

Naked time (I need to remove his collar for his bath)

Put your clothes on (Either putting his collar back on or putting his jacket or life jacket on)

Get into the tub

Freeze (used when taking pictures of him he holds his pose)

Medicine time (he knows he is getting his flea and heartworm treatments)

you must spend hours with your pup.. this is an incredible list of tricks!

this is my favorite trick of franklin's, he's got a lot of the usual (sit, down, roll over, high five (and "other paw"), shake, over...lay on his side, bang (play dead), touch, go to mat, jump, go potty, load up, fetch, leave it, stay....where he has to freeze in place no matter what we are doing or where we are), etc. But this play dead gets lots of laughs.

hahahah good boy!!

Seanna can "sing"...it's the kinda whining, half growling noise she does when she's talking at us...which is pretty much all the time when she wants things to go her way!

If I say "dig" to Ginger, she'll jump up on my lap and go to town digging on my tummy.  It started because I had put one of her tennis balls in my hoodie pocket and she started digging at that.  Now she does it on command.  It's awesome when I'm laying on the floor and she does it on my back!

She also knows:

sit

lay - mostly only when treats are involved, but we're getting there

speak

pretties - stands on her hind feet, front paws down in front of her and begs for a treat

high fives - jumps up and hits my hand with both her front paws

kennel - just figured this one out last week!

night-nights - goes into her kennel, again just figured this one out last week

outside - runs to the back door

off - she hears this one a lot!!!
