I know Corgi's can gain weight quite easily and I think I'm keeping her healthy. I weighed my little dog by holding her and taking the weight minus my own weight taken at the same time. According to the scale she came out to a whopping ~35 lbs, I'm not sure how accurate that is but my weight was pretty close. This worries me a little bit, but I think she looks to be a pretty healthy weight. I'm feeding her 2 cups of Blue Buffalo, 1 in the morning and 1 at night. She runs around the house quite a bit chasing the car up and down the stairs so she's pretty active inside the house.
Here's Ellie

Is she big boned? Max is, his optimum weight is 37 lbs, Katie is daintier and goes 27 lbs. I feed Blue but in the yellow bag for weight control and I feed mine 1 cup a day...split morning and night. I add bulk to their food with green beans, carrots, peas. I also use baby carrots as treats. There is a breed standard but some come larger and some smaller.
Vet always told me to never feed them as much as the bag says....seems to be working for mine. Mine herd the 3 cats and just plain do mad corgi dashes thru the house for the heck of it. Has she had a recent check up? If so what did the vet say?
She's due for her next round of shots, she's only a year and a half. She actually is smaller than the few corgis that I've seen at the park, I believe that she is the runt of her litter. Also I just put her on the yellow bag since she's past her growing stage.
She doesn't look bad but that seems like a LOT of food. Most neutered/spayed adult Corgis get somewhere around a cup of food a day, total, divided over two feedings.
Jack's proper weight is around 35 pounds, while Maddie would be a butterball at that weight.
I see, she's been on 2 cups a day for quite a while now. I'll have to ask my vet the next time I go see him.
As they stop growing, they typically need less food, so just watch her carefully.
She looks good but as Beth said altered adult corgis tend to bulk up. For me the Blue in the yellow bag is good. Max always had a problem with extra weight in the winter, less outdoor exercise....his "mom" hates the cold. This is the first full winter I've had him on the yellow one and he hasn't gained extra weight and neither has Katie.
Could the ones you've seen at the park actually be over-weight?
The ones at the park were physically bigger than her
can you feel her ribs? my vet told us we should be able to feel, but not see, his ribs and he should have a defined "waist". he's quite skinny though, only 26lbs currently and the vet said he looked a little "lean". (his ribs are not visible) but he was just in to be neutered, and he's a year old, so he will probably continue to put on some weight. he runs around like a maniac in the yard and in the house and we play ball with him outside once a day. he also doesn't love his food. i've started to feed him a cup of dry and a few tablespoons of wet all in one feeding because he would skip a meal a day if i broke it up into two meals.
Going by that method I can feel her ribs some, maybe she does need to loose a little lol
