Accidentally washed corgi with liquid hand soap
Hey folks-
Today I gave my corgi a bath after we went to the dog park and I accidentally used hand soap instead of her regular dog shampoo. They look the same and are in about the same size containers.. I made the mistake of placing them next to each other and then compounded it by grabbing the wrong one.
Now, she didn't get any in her mouth or anything but I didn't realize my mistake until she was all lathered up. I washed it out real good and all but now her fur is shedding worse than usual, in big clumps. I don't know if that's just remnants from the bath (I don't usually bathe her, I give her to a groomer to do that) or not.
Anyone have any advice? Kinda worried..

It's a combo of both, most dog sheds more after a bath, that's why you'll need to brush him after afterwards, the hand soap might be too harsh and cause the extra shed, add a tea spoon of oil in his food and brush the excess fur and he'll be back in top shape :)

The warm water of a bath will cause any hairs that are ready to shed to loosen right up and come out, as Sam mentioned. Your corgi will be fine. Besides Sam's suggestion, I would also probably give a little extra time til the next bath, to allow the natural oils to return to your dog's coat. I wouldn't worry. :-)

Honestly, I don't think the hand soap was any worse than alot of the cheap shampoos out there! Mine also shed alot after a bath and Sam and Beth addressed that! Don't worry!

I washed Gwynn once with a bar of what I thought was castile soap (might have been something else) -- I assumed it'd be OK because it was OK on my own skin. Mistake. Left her fur so sticky I could not comb it. Had to re-wash her with pet shampoo. We have soft water so soap residue usually isn't an issue.
