Anyone ever use "sonic" collars? Huge barking problem. HELP

Has anyone here ever used the "sonic" systems to stop barking. Or even one of the "spray" collars? I refuse to do shock. Here is our problem, Ein was broken in a large house with a big back yard so barking wasn't a problem. He would only bark when the doorbell rang. Then we had to move across state to an appartment. We were on the top floor and he only barked when our single neighbor came home. Then he was told NO STOP Barking if he went on for to long, which was rare. Now we had to move again and this time we are on the bottom floor facing in a courtyard. Now he's barking and howling at every little noise outside, and we are both (me and ein) getting really stressed out. Verbal repramand is not working, the spray bottle just makes him run-hide & pee, and I can't be home all the time. Any advise? BTW he is 3 years old.

Yes, but it was not a collar. I used a sonic device by Morgans crate to keep him from barking. I have roommates and I did not want my little arrival to be an issue. He would bark sharp high pitch barks in the morning as soon as the sun was up. Our house echos and it was annoying when you are trying to throw on a pair of pants and he is screetching. The device taught him not to bark to be let out. Instead he paws the side of his crate to make a small noise that does not bother anyone. So he gets let out and everyone else can sleep in.

The only bummer is that after a few weeks it seems to have stopped working. It doesn't know when he is barking and so I have to do it manually. I probably just got a dud, but it did the job.

The ultra sonic anti bark collars are kinder in my opinion than using shock collars. It is just a sudden noise that stops them barking. My dogs can't tell where it is coming from so then it becomes a game, find that sound. But I would recommend the product, it worked on Morgan.

I thought it would be a good idea to try it on a person 1st...so my son-in-law was the guinea pig and it didn't work at 1st but then when he really started barking he got zapped...so we did test it on a human ...not an animal and yes, he is still talking to me!

Ok - so the collars didn't last very long. They're already back at Petsmart 24 hours after I bought them! I put the sonic one on Sadie and the first time she barked it "squealed" and she looked around and quit barking, I said "good girl, no barking, quiet," etc. and thought great! Well, 15 minutes later she shook her head hard and when hers ears flopped (darn big ears) the collar squealed again and then she looked around like what was that for? So I took it off. Leo, meanwhile, has the spray collar on that hadn't yet gone off even though he had barked several times. I tightened it, I loosened it. I tried to refill it thinking maybe they forgot to do it before packaging and just ended up with it all over me - nice lemony scent. I took it off Leo and made sure the battery was good, tested everything the manual said to do. Still no spray. So I put Sadie's sonic collar on Leo and...... nothing. It wouldn't sound off when he barked. I took it off and blew across the microphone like they said to do to test it, when it squealed Sadie got scared and ran off and hid under the bed shaking. What a disaster! Soooo, off to Petsmart we went to make the return, which they gladly took from me and handed me their training class schedule. I guess no quick fix for the barking issue. I'm not sure why they didn't work on Leo. Short stubby neck to go with his short stubby legs? I have no idea but I'm back to square one and my husband will have to put up with the barking till I figure something out.

well it's looking like we are just gona have to stick with the verbal commands. I'm not willing to spend THAT much money on something that may or may not work. I Think he may be getting better, I'm woried about getting complaints. Oh well guess we will figure that out when it happens.
