Hello all,

Was wondering if there are any chewies or snacks that can help my puppy's breath.
The dog food (Nutro) that I am feeding him is making his breath smell.
We do brush his teeth daily but I think it's coming from his tongue.

I love greenies too...I just checked the bag of Greenies smart biscuits and I don't see where it says 6 months or older for these...there was also a recipe from someone on my dog treat discussion that had a treat to make yourself containing some type of charcoal (activated,I think)& (found in a drug store) you could check back and see if that would work...if you have the time.
We use the Greenies bones, not the biscuits (there are Greenies biscuits?)
We feed almost entirely raw meat with only a wee bit of Wellness kibble. I think they got more dogbreath when we upped the kibble portions, and diminished when we cut it back. Just a hunch.
The main thing when switching food is to do it gradually! For a pup I would start with 3/4 old food and 1/4 new for a few days, then go 1/2 and 1/2 for at least a week and after that 3/4 new and 1/4 old...that way their tummy adjust slowly as the problems come from just switching with no gradual change!

I love greenies but dogs should be watched with these especially if they tend to eat fast as I recently read that they are only going to sell these at vet offices and pet store as there has been some dogs that gulp their treats and have gotten them stuck in their esophaguses(sp). Yes there is the new greenies smart biscuit and it doesn't give an age requirement but I would break them up into small pieces. My salmon dog food does give my dogs a slight bad breath right after eating.

Puppy breath...it could be much worse! Good luck!
