So a couple of days ago I saw tufts of hair poking out of my male, 4 year old corgi's back side. Not a big deal right, since all of us corgi owners know that corgis are prone to shedding in the springtime! I have seen it every year, but this time, as I pulled out the tuft from his body, I noticed something very startling - a layer of SKIN was attached to it. I got really worried and started pulling out some of the other loose areas I saw and they all were the same - a layer of dried skin holding onto the fur, and on the bottom you could see there was like dried blood.
I thought maybe he hurt himself, and gave it a day to see if he got better. Today I see th same tufts with the attached skin popping right out. This looks so painful for him. The hair is only coming out on his butt and side. Not one isolated area.
Could this be allergies? Should I be worried? Please help

It could be that he could have hurt himself or it could be something far more serious...

Yes, even healthy dogs can get it from your local wildlife, and no this doesn't mean improper care of your dog ( I hate the stigma that only improperly cared for dogs get this disease).
I'd say its serious time for a vet trip like yesterday...it may cost a few $$ to treat but in reality it can only get worse if left untreated reguardless of what it is.
Hope this helps a bit,
Sincerely,
Don and Crew
