Does a "blow-out" after a bath help with the shedding?

OK - I haven't posted anything on here for a very long time but I'd really appreciate any input you have.  The shedding is driving my husband crazy.  I think I'm becoming immune to it but I am terribly embarrassed if someone drops by unexpectedly.  I'm just wondering if it would help if I would start taking Sadie and Leo once a month to a groomer for a bath and a professional blow-dry.  Any thoughts?  Yes, I have the furminator and it's great.  I also use the Kong zoom groom when I bath them myself which is maybe 4-5 times per year.  It's the blow-dry part I wonder about the most.  Does it help?  Does that help to loosen the undercoat after they're bathed and maybe on a monthly basis we could stay a little ahead of the fur game?  I'd be willing to spend the money if it would help!  Thanks for any suggestions or experiences you can tell me about.  Shelby

Thanks for your reply Bev - that was just what I was looking for.  I'm willing to give it a try for a few months and then maybe be able to back off to just every other month or so after the weather warms up and they're outside more.
There's supposed to be a supplement you can put into their food that will reduce shedding.

Linatone - costs about $20 bottle, my 34lb fur-factory gets 2 teas a day, it's made a HUGE difference.  I have hardwood floors (nicely accentuates floating hair-clouds!) and it takes a full week after vacuuming before they start floating around again (instead of about 2 days, before the Linatone).

I think I'm the only person on the planet that wasn't impressed with the Furminator?  I get a lot more bang for the buck from a rubber curry and a steel comb.  I've had Huskies and that's what worked for me on them, too.  The comb will get below the undercoat - until it's been thoroughly combed through once, it can be a job.  Once it's combed through, though - if you keep some hair build-up on the comb while you're combing, it really does the job.  I bath about once a month or so, and a good hair conditioner (I use human products) will let you gently comb out while wet.  Once dry - boy, if you can do it outside, more power to you!

where did you find the linatone? i ask at pet-co they dont carry it..
This is a very interesting discussion.  I had a furminator all ready to go when I got my corgi and it was great when she was little and didn't have much over-coat.  But now I use the rubber 'Zoom Groom' almost exclusively.  I comb Poppy almost every single day and get a good handful of hair out but I still have the long straight hairs all over my hardwood floors!  I haven't noticed her shedding more in any month than any other so don't know what 'blowing coat' is yet.  She's just one year old now.  I don't think I'd mind the little fuzzy hairs on the floor as much as I mind the long straight ones.  Sigh ... will learn to live with hair because she's the sweetest little girl in the world.
i love the zoom groom~ thats all i use , to me it gets more hair than the furminator
I take Carly to the groomer every three weeks and i also give her baths in between if she starts smelling ..i dont think ill be able to keep up this regime when i get my second but we will see. Yes blo dryng helps a bunch, i dont have a special dog blodry,  i use mine. Just be sure you only the cool temp.. it is to hot otherwise. If i knew where to  get the other i think i might invest,  to save my personal dryer.
I bathe once a month, and I invested in a force dryer (the kind groomers use). The dryer helps a LOT. The only downside is that when you use it, it blows hair everywhere, so you'll need a vacuum handy. When its warm out, I use it outside. The birds take the clumps of hair for nesting.
