I have the opportunity to get a corgi that is 1/2 pem and 1/2 cardigan.  Does anyone else have one, and what is your opinion on their size and look?  Just wondering if it is a true mix of the two or does one dominate more in their size and looks?  I love the color of the blue merle, but I hate to say it I dont care for the blue eyes, I prefer brown.

Would love to see pics. My guess is that it's all in how the genes fall...

If it is a breeder who breeds dogs this way on purpose, I would still ask about health testing/socialization/early life care as that is a BIG consideration.

I have mixed feelings about people breeding various dogs together and selling them at a high price but, do whatever you feel is right. As long as the breeder is doing right by their dogs and is offering proper support for you and the pup (health checks, will take the dog back if you cannot keep it, not over breeding their dogs, etc), more power to you!

I really love the blue merle coloring, too, but at that point, I would probably just get a cardigan. They are such beautiful dogs, a little less 'spunky' in some ways than the pembroke, but still have that big corgi spirit! Crossing a cardi and a pem together doesn't really promise much. It is a mixed breeding, so size, personality and colors are really going to be a crap shoot.

I know there is someone in northern WI who intentionally breeds their pem and cardi together. I personally do not agree with it and think it's very irresponsible breeding, but from what I've seen they are just doing it for the merle color. People pay a pretty penny for fancy colored dogs apparently, even if they're mutts.
