Does anyone here have any experience with Kuranda beds? A humane society around here is using them for their dogs and I don't know if I'd buy one but I think I could make one! They keep dogs off the ground which is important and I like the idea of being able to make the size I need.

I don't have any experience with them, but they do look like fun to make. You could choose your own fabric pattern/color! They also look fairly easy... some PVC and a meter (or less?) of fabric. :]
That's what I thought and I know I have seen some that have the material sewn so that you can slip it over the PVC pipes I think a heavy material would be good but if it slipped over the pipes so you could stretch it tight then it should also be easy to replace...I hope! I might have to try this for Christmas presents!
Yeah, that's what I was thinking-- folding the sides over and sewing them with a strong, sturdy stitch and just sliding the PVC pipes through the tunnel part and assembling it from there. Then you could take the PVC apart and slide it off when you need to wash or replace it.
I just realized that maybe you and I weren't thinking the same thing! Haha. Either way would work pretty well, though, I bet!
No I think we were thinking the exact same thing!
I was thinking that perhaps you meant to make a butterfly-shaped cover and slip it over the legs of the PVC frame. Both are viable methods, I think.

(Oh goodness, I love making stuff!)
i think it would be better for the hotter days, my british military cot is about the same height off the ground and you lose a lot of heat of through the bottom, maybe this just applies to us humans. that might be something you want to look at. although you could just as easily put something on top to prevent the loss of heat.
Yes I think the air being able to move under these would be great for the heat and I do actually like the comfort of the cot and how it supports a body differently so I think this might be a good plan!
With most Corgis, keeping cool is more of an issue than staying warm! (They have the heavy double coat). My male will sleep on his back, sprawled out with belly showing, when it's 65 degrees in the house in the winter.
Yes,all of mine would rather have the cold! If it's hot they want to be in where it's cooler!
I would just make sure to pick your fabric carefully. If has stretch to it, I think it would be ruined eventually. Though you could just keep expanding the PVC frame... ;) I'm inspired!
I was thinking canvas or as heavier material! Canvas may be too hard to sew...you are right many materials would stretch. I wish I could find material like used on outside patio furniture but I couldn't sew that either! Denim would work well if it isn't the kind my new jeans are as I put them on in the am and they fit and a few hours later they have stretched way too much! Any other thoughts for material?
