We live in a VERY HIGH tick area.  We use Revolution and the boys have had 1 tick in 6 years.

Well my chihuahua would be very easy to search but Sammie my corgi mix is all fur!

Frontline plus has worked better on the ticks than fleas for me this year. I found a few on Becca in May when they came out, but none attached.

Well luckily fleas are very rare here. If anything dog lice is more popular.

We use Frontline on Frosty.  The only downside I have found, is that it only kills fleas and ticks if they actually BITE him.  Otherwise, they easily carry fleas and ticks inside all the time.

I would suggest Advantix, unless you have a cat that actively grooms the dog.  Much better for ticks, and they don't need to attach first so you lose the "ick" factor.

Remember that Advantix is put on in a row of three to four spots down the back;  I believe Frontline is just one spot.  Follow package directions.

Can I get advantix at any store? And do you know if it has any harmful chemicals in it sorta like flea collars?

You can now get it in pet stores, though it was until recently only available through the vet's office.  It's the same sort of spot-on as Frontline, but different ingredients.   It's not like a flea collar, no.   Spot ons have had some incidents of bad reactions, but are usually well-tolerated.

Advantix is better against ticks, no question about that.  Since ticks are a big problem where I live, and we live in a Lyme disease hot zone, we use Advantix all year round.

Hi Elizabeth, NO product can prevent ticks, avoid walking in tall grassy area / tick keys are your best bet.

Hello Sam I'm not really familiar with a tick key.

I would wear gloves when you use the tick key.

Whether you’re using Revolution, Frontline, Advantage or any other flea and tick treatments. If you walk your dog in a tick infested area, the ticks will jump on him. The topical treatments will NOT repel ticks, it kills them AFTER they bite :(

Well as long as there not biting. Before we head back from camping I could use a comb to get all the loose ticks off if there is any! Thanks so much for your input Sam!
