well yet another alaskan winter has arrived, and this is kirby's first winter so far it has done two things: one, all the snow has covered all the holes he dug in the back yard. and two, installed a new challange of getting him to come inside. he loves all this white stuff!!!! he was outside when the first snowflakes were falling, before the ground was covered, and he was trying to catch the flakes in his mouth. now with the ground covered with powder he is doiing the bunny hop and wont come inside.... i love all the fun but i am scared he will freeze , any expirience with dogs who like winter a bit too much?

that's a wickedly cute picture
Our puppies just love the snow, in fact Brody love it if we are shoveling and "throw" the snow at him. 2 years ago he ran around in the new snow and made a perfect giant heart right outside of our bedroom window. If it's too cold we try to keep them in more, but sometimes Brody will go in his dog house and doesn't want to come in (guess he's all snug in there)
Dee Dee loves snow. If there are snow piles on the side of the street, she will go that way. When we lived in Akita, Japan, she would run up & down the snow piles, jump up & hopped like a bunny through the snow. She didn't mind the cold at all. We just had to watch out for her paws and her big, wide chest where icecles formed.

We are in Sacramento where it does not snow, but rains in winter. She does not like wet grass at all. So I guess she doesn't like rain, but once that freezes & becomes snow, she loves it!
As someone said, Corgi's coats are made for this weather-Wales enjoying a lot of snow. As for Potus- well it hasn't snowed since we got him. I was hoping it would so he could experience it but nope, no snowflakes here. However we did get temperatures of 0 to 5 degrees Celcius and he was fine- he loves the cold and will snuggle up on his bed to get warm (or sit in front of the heater- not always a good thing as once he sat too close and got singed). Our challenge is the heat. Summer starts next month here and he does not cope well. Looks like it'll be a lot of ice and cold baths.
This will be Calebs first winter but I won't be surprised if he loves the snow. It's been unseasonably warm here for now so no snow yet.
Kari loves the cold and the snow and we'll have to see about little Jackson, its going to be his first winter as well
My corgis would take winter over summer any day! The humidity in Minn. is terrible! They love the snow and rolling,,jumping and chasing! The only thing I would be careful of is the ice/snow in the paws and the might start lifting them or could even lay down due to this and severe wind chills as they may be having too much fun playing so I do limit their time out when the temps really plunge!
