Wondering if anyone elses corgi does this. When I try to get Sophie off the bed in the morning to feed her breakfast, she jumps around the bed like a Mexican Jumping Bean, and it takes forever for me to catch her. Its extremely funny but I do not know why she does it. I dont know if she thinks its a game, or she is just so excited that she knows she is going to get food. She also does this when we take her in the car, she loves riding in the car, but when you go to pick her up she does the jumpy jumpy thing with her front feet and she goes so fast once again it takes a while to get her to put in the car. Just curious if anyone elses baby does this. I suppose I have to put her in the sit stay position but it is actually very funny to watch.

She is playing & also testing out how much control she has over you. It is cute, but there will come a day when you're in a situation where you need to grab her quickly and the rascally behavior could put everyone in danger. Probably best to nip it in the bud and make it clear that playtime is playtime and occasions when you need to pick her up are not playtime.
In the morning Franklin does what i call is his "spazz attack". he will jump on the bed and then bite the covers and fling himself over and start spazoming. His legs flail in all directions and he flip flops back and forth with the blanket in his mouth. He will also do this at random times on the couch with a pillow. I think they all exhibit their crazy excited corgi behavior in one way or another. I don't think morning goofiness is going to hurt anyone as long as she knows if you really HAD to pick her up, you could. Franklin will stop his spazz attack if I tell him to (i.e. if we are at a friend's house and he decides he needs to chew their pillows!). Otherwise I just laugh at him and play along.
She is well aware that you find it funny so has little incentive to change the behavior. You have to decide if you really want to stop it or not..there are lots of easy ways to put an end to it...treats for an off, a leash for control to name a couple..so decide if this is a behavior you are enjoying and is not dangerous or not.
