I've been in search of a fluffy corgi that would not only be another companion for myself and fiance, but would also be a nice long walk buddy for our corgi. I did some looking into the fluffies and I know they're usually not bred, but some corgi breeders do end up (by chance) having a fluffy in a litter. I was wondering if anyone had any recommendations on where to search for one. I recently have checked at local shelters and rescues and there aren't any corgis available to my knowledge. I could really use some advice from fellow corgi lovers. Please and thank you!

Yep, definitely start contacting breeders and let them know what you're looking for. I assume you're looking for a pem, but Joanna Kimball at Blacksheep Cardigans has fluffs from time to time.

Pem or Cardigan, either breed is just fine. Would you happen to have an email for Joanna Kimball by any chance?

According to her website it's blacksheepcardigans at gmail dot com, but she's also on Facebook.

Thanks so much!

Breeders may be able to point you to some who still get fluffs. There is a gene test now (at least in Pems) so some breeders may be avoiding it while others may not mind the occasional fluff if the cross is right....

Thanks for the advice!

When I was looking for another fluffy after our Lexus passed, I found this breeder in OH http://siteskins.net/brynleacorgis/1.html  but I didn't contact her as I ended up rescuing Alfie via Corgi Rescue of America on FB.    ....I recently came across a breeder in TX who also has flufflies periodically http://www.bluemooncorgis.com/5.html

You can always get in touch with your local rescue and let them know you are looking for a fluffy. one may pop up in their network and they can contact you. Last month I was contacted by the local corgi rescue her in St, Louis about a 10 yr old fluffy in CO whose owner had passed and she needed a new home, but timing was not right for her to join our family.

IF you really want a fluffy, be patient and do NOT give up!!

good luck in your quest!!

Thanks so much for your advice and help! I'll certainly look into those two websites you listed.

Ebonwald cardigans has a brindle fluff boy available. Not close to you unfortunately but I know he ships.

That's amazing! Do you have any contact information? I'd love to get in touch with the owners.

When I got my corgi mix from the shelter, she looked like she had short hair aside from her ears and tail (she was about 5 months old).  3 months later, I had a dog with long hair and a fluffy butt that just keeps getting fluffier everyday (4 inches of fur on her back and 6 inches on her butt!).  If you stumble across a rescue, remember that older puppies might be transitioning from their puppy fluff to their adult coat and may not look like they will as adults.  Some dogs have coats that don't fully fill-in until they are almost 2 years old!  While you might not be able to find a full-breed fluffy corgi at the shelter, you might be able to find a corgi-aussie or corgi-collie mix.  Other people I know who also have corgi-(other herding dog breed with long hair) mixes have ended up with dogs that look like fluffy cardigans as adults.  Sometimes when I run into Cardi owners they like to claim my dog for their camp of the what's-the-best-type-of-corgi debate.

When I got her:

And what she looks like today at 1 year 4 months:

She's s beautiful! My fiance and I actually applied at a few rescues. The one dog ended up developing medical issues and the Corgi we had applied for ended up going to somebody else. I was very disappointed and I looked around for a bit, but haven't been able to find any that meet our circumstance at home. I had a call about a week or so ago about a corgi mix that had popped up in a shelter, but the had aggression towards cats and we have an 8 month old kitten. So we had to pass. I check daily though to see if there's any corgis in the shelter that meet to our circumstances, but no luck so far. :/
