I am looking to adopt a baby to young Pembroke. A year ago, I had to have my Pembroke, Phineas, euthanized due to status epilepticus. Despite, the vet's best efforts he was unable to bring him permanently out of the siezure and due to the length he had been seizing there was nothing left to do. He had seizures a few months after I bought him and they continued to grow worse depsite being on two meds. I am now ready to add a corgi to my family again. I recently moved and now have a nice big fenced in yard. If anyone can please help me in my search I would be so thankful. Phineas was the most devoted and loyal dog I ever had, and I find myself feeling empty without a cute corgi butt and personality in my life.

You've had a year to grieve, so you're not likely to make an inappropriate impulse decision, but be careful, methodical, do your homework, figure out what you want, and go get it. Wendtworth corgies comes to mind (Cleveland area).
Thanks. I'm not rushing into this. I want to find the right dog and if I do go with a breeder, I want to check into them. When I got Phineas, I was inexperienced and I believe the breeder I bought him from was not very good as he had multiple medical problems. I will definately look into Wendtworth, Thanks again!
You could contact this group and see if there are any rescues needing a good home in Ohio:

Thanks for the help. I really would prefer a rescue.
I have recently met a young woman who has a young male red-headed tri Pembroke for adoption. He is 6 months old, do not have his tail bobbed and is just a sweetie. Her young son has severe allegies and the puppy must go. Her name is Mickie and her number is 419-573-9338
Thanks I will call her this evening
I'm so sorry. We had to have our Tedi Bear put down in December, we were blessed to have had him for 12 and a half yrs. Now about looking for a breeder in Ohio as John Wolff said WENDT WORTH CORGIS! You can take a look at our Samantha (Sami) on our page. We got her from Wendy in April and she is everything we could possibly want and more. In fact tried the waters this morning with my husband Vern about in year and a half or two getting a second one. We would most certainly be contacting Wendy. Take a look at her bunch at wendtworthcorgis.com Believe if you go to Members here and type in Wendy you'll find her link. She was wonderful before, during and after we got Sami from her. Good luck.
Try petfinder.com. Some of the reputable rescues post on there, and some are even willing to ship. Of courses, adopting and shipping can cost a fair amount, but if your primary reason to want to adopt instead of buy is ethical/emotional, then that might not be a factor.

My experience is not as many Corgis end up in shelters as do other breeds. However, there are lots of puppy mills (sadly) in neighboring Pennsylvania, and sometimes the rescues will pick up a young adult from there. With a puppy mill stud or mom comes a host of emotional and physical health issues, of course, but the rescues usually carefully evaluate the dogs before placing them.

Another option is to make contacts with some reputable breeders and tell them you are interested in a dog that needs to be rehomed for some reason. In some people's minds, that also qualifies as a rescue.

Good luck in your search.
Here's a group that operates in Ohio, Maryland, and West Virginia. I don't know anything about them, so I can't speak for their reputation. They currently seem to have three adult Corgis in Maryland.
