I have noticed that Dragster is getting muscle spasms right behind his shoulder blades. We play ball everyday almost so he's getting exercise. I thought they would pass but he hasn’t seemed himself. I gave him a massage and he seemed a little tender in certain areas. I can tell the spasms are irritating him because he will get up and look at the area the best he can since he cant reach. Any ideas before we call the vet? Hes not over-weight really.. hes 30-32 pounds.

Could it be he's used a muscle too much? Right b/4 Renaissance I gave livvy a really "good" workout and I guess it was too much and she has a sore leg and yesterday my dogs were "flying" all over outside (more than usual)" and one of mine seemed like she had overexerted herself.Maybe slow down for a day or two and see if this helps???
i dont know what it is. its like when you tickle them and certain parts jump you know?
It could be just muscle fatigue or a minor injury. I would try to keep him from vigorous running and jumping for a few days and see if it improves on its own. If it fails to improve over a week or two then perhaps consult a vet. Just keep in mind that soft tissue injuries, even minor ones, can take some time to heal and Corgis can be very intense, which means they won't rest it like they should. So it might improve gradually over some time. If there is no change or it worsens, then by all means check with a vet.
Is there something i can do like wrap it?
With a dog that would be very hard. They would be so frantic to try to get it off, it might do more harm than good. In theory, ice on a new injury and heat on an "old" (over a week old) injury can help if it's soft tissue, but in practice that is hard with a dog.
I agree with Beth to keep him a little quieter for a few days and if it isn't better then to see a vet. What do you mean by "he's not over weight really" I'm just curious as my girlfriend told me about 2 overweight dogs that acted like they had some back problems but once they lost weight they were fine...these weren't corgis but it did contribute to some problems. I still think it's more likely a overuse problem but I'm not a vet. I don't know how you could wrap it.

Good Luck!
Maybe give him some "nanner". Sami gets a little piece of banana just about every morning. My husband gets muscle cramps but with the banana every day it helps him. We also give her banana chips sometimes oh and Yoplait yogurt as it is high in calcium (original) we get her banana cream and harvest peach flavors. I give her a couple of teaspoons a day. Hope this helps.
