He leaves divets in the lawn when we play fetch, and he can hold his body weight up when we play tug, he jumps from the ground and can catch and hold himself up off the ground for quite some time. I think he think's hes a pitbull.
We get a lot of comments on how "jacked" he is.
I'm guessing this is probably from my playing so insanely with him since he was a pup, but this is probably in his genes.

Anybody else have a corgi on steroids?

Our Chepstow (red/white) is very muscular. He has a very smooth coat so you can see the muscles moving when he walks and runs. He is so strong and intense. He swims like a motor boat. People at the lake cannot believe how fast and strong he is. For a male he is a small Corgi although he weights about 32 pounds.....it is all muscle.

He will run and fetch his ball, catch the frisbee for hours if we let him. Sometimes we have to force him to rest. He is definitely an athletic Corgi.
Is he a cardigan?
32 lbs for a pembroke is big.
He is a Pembroke and he is small compared to most males we have seen. I think he is the poster child of muscle weighs more than fat. Look at his picture on my page, do you think he looks over weight? Lot of people have said that 32 is heavy for a Pem. He doesn't eat much and exercises contantly.
His back legs look like Atlas's. That is a lot of corgi you have there, he is definitely a very healthy-looking weight.
Breed standard for males is 25-30lbs and it suprises me that your 32lb male is small compared to most of the males you see, are they overweight?
Muscle doesn't weigh much more than fat, the difference is miniscule, Something of .06 g/ml difference in animal muscle and fat, it is just the fact muscle doesn't sag that gives people the compact look. (not trying to correct you so much as obliterate a common misconception)
Roxi is the same way. I was wondering if there were any other uber dogs out there. When we first brought her to meet our friends they were all surprised because the other corgis they have met were fat and could barely move lol. So they decided she wasn't a corgi or we were feeding her drugs.

She crazy fast and loves to go on long hikes with us without breaking a sweat (except that one time we swam in the river all morning first haha).

We've played Frisbee and lawn games with her since she was a pup and have to use the lazer light at night when we get home from work to tire the poor thing out. Though having another corgi has helped keep her occupied. I feel sorry for Charlie though since he's extremely out of shape and breaks a sweat (walks far behind us) just going down the street.

I've also been quite scared that years from now we wont be able to find a corg quite like her activity level :)
Does Atlas like to play with other dogs. Chepstow loves to run, chase and jump with other dogs. He mostly is around other Corgi's. But he is so much stronger than other dogs we have to watch him and make sure he doesn't get to rough. He would never hurt another dog on purpose......he is just so strong.
Yeah, and it's kind of interesting, because he is definitely the alpha dog, but he plays very gently with other dogs. Especially my friend's yorkie.
He play's really rough with me though.
This sounds like the boys.
Loki is like that too :) He gets a lot of exercise and play time, so it seems to have really honed his strengths. When I (Megan) play tug with him he literally jerks me around haha- he gets really into it and is quite strong.
Another reason I think Chepstow is so strong is because he does swims daily. We live on the lake and not only does he swim around the shore, when we are out in the boat he does a lot of deep water swimming. He ALWAYS wears his cute little orange lifejacket. Our other corgi Tenby has very severe shoulder problems and the Vet says swimming is the best exercise, cardio as well as strength.
My Bella is very muscular...she also is more active than my other corgis...I would say she puts on twice as many miles in a day but they all run and play hard she just does more and you can see her muscles more...she is such a gentle dog (not submissive though) that I can't say how much stronger she is but she weighs 27# which is bigger for a female but does not look heavy at all.
