Don't know why, my 2 male corgis, Moe & Markus, fart a lot and smell awful. It is really bad. However, I don't think the female, Maggie, fart a lot, at least there is zero smell. Since Moe and Markus always stay beside my feet, so wherever the wind goes, I smell it. And did I said it smell awful?

I feed all of them the same food, so I don't know what makes the different in their system. I used to feed them Orijen Adult or Regional Red. Then I switch to Orijen's sub-brand Acana Wild Prairie, because it has less protein. However, the fart thing did not improve.

Any wise soul can tell me how to solve this problem?

thanks Ahead

Put several golf balls in their bowls to slow them down.

I don't think that apply. All of them eat very slow. It takes them like 10 mins to finish a meal. so....

thanks

Maggie and Moe need to lose some weight. That is why I pick the dry food they are eating. It is already low protein and grain free. It is lamb, chicken and egg base.

So, have you tried them on a different protein source?  For example, fish instead of lamb.  Or bison instead of chicken.  In Yuki's case, he can't have chicken without getting gas.  So I make sure to feed him kibble that has lamb or fish in it, instead.

I am trying the same brand with different ingredient. will report back later.

My husband does too.  If you find a cure, let me know.

LOL.

It is more easy for human. Less red meat, spicy, strong flavour and less bean.

How long have they been on the Acana?  Shippo had gas for a couple weeks or so after I had fully transitioned him over to Acana so if it hasn't been long, it may improve.

they have Acana for few months already. Will try to feed them the fish formula. Hope it works.

I feed Ein Orijen as well, and she had bad gas too. I'm not sure if it's because of the food, as that's what I've always fed her and the gas started recently. I didn't want to take her off Orijen as I think it's a really good dog food. A few days ago I started adding a couple tablespoons of non-fat plain yogurt to her breakfast and dinner, hoping the good bacteria in yogurt would calm her gut down and help with the farts! It seems to be working! Maybe you could try that.

Will also try the yogurt thing later. Is the yogurt sweet at all?

No! Don't give your dog any sweetened or flavored yogurt. Plain, and I do non-fat or low-fat, because I figure full-fat would add too many calories.

For what it's worth, we've been doing the yogurt thing for about 3 days now, and it's really helped!
