Gizmo, my two year old pup, was neutered this past Monday, and has me worried.
He took water Monday evening, and had normal bowel movement and started urinating again on Tuesday morning. By Tuesday afternoon he had diarrhea. He finally took some of his dog food, but his diarrhea continued throughout Tuesday night and Wednesday. The clinic that did his surgery suggested boiled chicken and rice, which he ate some of Wednesday. The diarrhea has slowed, but he just went again and there was bright red blood in it.
I'm hoping it's just from him having to go so frequently, that it's GI irritation or something simple.
I'm impatiently awaiting this stupid clinic to open so I can call again.

Anyone have experience with a situation like this?

Aw, poor guy.

MOST of the time, small amounts of bright red blood are just from irritation and resolve when the GI tract is healed.

The anesthesia may have caused the tummy upset. However, you are doing the right thing in keeping in touch with the clinic; they will know what to ask to make sure there is nothing more serious going on.

Keep us posted on how he's doing!
We saw a vet today and they said it is probably stress. They put fluids under his skin for his body to absorb and gave him a shot to hopefully settle his tummy for now.
Got some meds for tomorrow, and they told us to reintroduce a bland diet tomorrow evening.
Poor guy had been sleeping since we got back. Think he's wiped out.

Poor guy...hope he's feeling better!

How is Gizmo doing today?
He's really good. Still in his cone, I can still see the stitches so hopefully they'll be dissolving in the next few days.
He's on his last day of meds for the vomiting and diarrhea, hasn't had any problems since Thursday. He's even trying to run and jump all over the place. He's a happy boy, aside from his irritating cone.
