I keep hearing about the wonders of pumpkin and I think both of my corgis (one's a foster) is a bit constipated. I heard that the orange goop may help but I'm not sure how much to give them. Any suggestions?

She's 9 months and probably 17 pounds now (since being sick) and he's 2 or 3 years old and about 35 pounds. Any help would be great.

Ha ha! Can't help you with the pumpkin but I like your turn of a phrase. In pursuit of the "perfect poop". My previous skills as a mom have prepared me for dog ownership. Or was it the other way around... Thanks for the laugh!
Generally small amounts of canned pure pumpkin (not spiced) is used to firm up loose stools, so if your Corgi is already constipated I don't think it would do much good for that.
I've used small amounts when transitioning foods to keep their stools firm, and it worked well.
I've heard that pumpkin will regulate stools, meaning firm or move things along, depending on the problem. It's cheap so it can't hurt to try.

I always start with just one tablespoon in one meal per day for a couple days to see how it sits. If the dogs tolerate it, then I believe my official measurement is a few glumps worth. LOL Seriously, I'd say maybe 2-3 tablespoons? That would be per day, total, not per meal. Jack gets pumpkin sometimes, for a low-calorie mix-in, since he only gets 2/3 c of food a day.
Plain canned pumpkin works both on constipation and loose stool. Too much pumpkin can cause loose stool but also can help with constipation. I am not sure what the right dose for your dog would be, maybe start out with a one teaspoon and see if that works and increase it a little at a time if you need to.
Pumpkin is good for both loose stools and constipation. I've always just added about a tablespoon of pure pumpkin to the kibble when needed.

Good luck on your pursuit of perfect poop! Ha - love it.
I've heard that vegetables can help kids (human ones) when there is a constipation problem. So perhaps some green beans or carrots would work too. Ella gets a small handful of vegetables with her dinner kibble. I use frozen because she loves them on hot days. Just be sure to check for salt or just buy fresh.
I've love to hear how the pumpkin goes, that would be really easy to feed.
I haven't managed to buy the pumpkin yet---but I have to say this. I have fallen to a new low as I found great joy in Freya pooping. I thought she had an obstruction or something and she wasn't pooping...I swear I was about to cry or jump for joy or both when she started to poop! She has pooped at least 2 times since...thank god, but I still need to get the pumpkin to help grease the tubes...if you know what I mean.

Sigh...honestly, when I did I get to be such an obsessive mom?
