Quiet vacuum cleaner

I'm looking for a quiet, or at least not loud, upright vacuum cleaner. I've had an Oreck for the last 8 yrs. that I like and has worked well, but it's quite noisy. I will have wood floors and some area rugs, no wall to wall carpet. Would like something simple, but reliable, that does not cost a gazillion dollars. Any suggestions?

There's a vacuum called the Hoover Whisper that was sold at Wal-Mart. Not sure if you can find them anymore but they're about $80 and use the same technology as Dyson. In a lot of comparison tests they actually scored better on some tests than Dyson vaccuums. And as the name implies, its quiet. I had a hard time finding one when I was searching for a vacuum about 2 years ago. I ended up with a Eureka and it works great but it is loud.

I have the shark vacuum and i love it! It works just as good as the dyson and is very quiet. Its great on both carpet and hard wood floors and its only 120 at Walmart
