Duke recently has developed a pink/reddish mark on the side of his nose on his white fur.
We at first thought it was a scratch or something from Daisy and him chasing each other around the house and sometimes they get a little feisty and maybe she scratched him or bit his nose. But, when we wash it with soap it will not go away. I have looked at his skin underneath the light fur and it doesn't appear to be irritated. I even put a little hydrogen peroxide on the area to clean it and it didn't bubble up like a scratch might.
I showed it to the vet on a recent visit (Duke had a stomach bug) and he said maybe the antibiotics would clear it up. But it didn't. Now he has this pink mark of fur on his face where it used to be pure white. My Mom thinks it's growing in pink. He has one paw with a pink fur pad too.
Could Duke's hair be growing in a pinkish color? He is only 2 years old. It's very strange.
I might have to take him back to the vet to have him get a better look (he didn't get a good look the first time), but has anyone ever noticed fur changes on their Corgis?
I'll post a pic if I get a chance.

I don't know if there is a close up of his face enough to see, but the end of Dax's nose (starting at the white fur right past the black on his actual nose) is almost completely pink. I don't know if his fur just thinned out right there or what, but it hasn't always been that way. I asked the vet about it once and he said that the skin didn't look irritated so don't worry about it. Now I'm not sure if that's what you meant, but here's something else that happened just this past week. One morning I noticed that he had a little red spot (within the pink on his nose) that looked like he was bleeding, but when I tried to clean it, it wouldn't come off. So I told myself that if it grew, I'd get it checked out. A couple days later it went from a little spot to kind of like a short scratch looking thing, and before I had time to make a vet appointment, it disappeared. So that's probably not helpful, but I never figured out what it was. Anyway, I never thought about the bowl thing, that may be a good suggestion. Dax eats out of a plastic bowl at the moment but maybe if I switched to something else, his nose would turn white again. :)
Yea, I guess I could check his bowls. It's just hard plastic, but I don't think he would be allergic. Maybe it's more of a birthmark that is coming in now. It's weird. It definitely doesn't look irritated. Guess I'll watch it and next check up ask the vet again. Thanks y'all!
If the vet hasn't done so already, have him do a skin test for mange. It's common in puppies, as their immune systems aren't fully developed yet--though some adult dogs have trouble with it too.
My dog, Hank, is currently being treated for mange. I noticed he had a little pink spot on his fur around his mouth, and another where his whiskers come in. The vet scraped the area and prescribed a simple medicine for it.
I was out of town for 2 weeks and had to board Rufus. When we got back, I noticed he had something similar around his mouth. It seems as if the hair has thinned, and it's the pink skin showing through. It's on the skin next to his nose and under his chin. I took him to the vet, who thought perhaps he had an allergic reaction to something where he was being boarded: the bowls, the cleaning solution, etc. But, now, after looking at the internet, I wonder if it might be canine solar dermatitis. Has anyone had a problem with this with their corgi? I'm going to take him back to the vet and see if he thinks it might be mange, as well as keep him out of the sun, but otherwise I'm not sure how to proceed.

im not sure if we are talking about the same, but when we first got emi around 12 weeks i noticed a weird scratch on her nose, as if part of her nose had been shaved off! but there was little hairs over it, and it didnt seem to hurt etc..  eventually it disappeared! i noticed this on a couple of corgis but i dont know if what youre talking about is the same thing :|
