On valentines day I will be taking Odin to the beach for the first time. I am worried that he will just eat dirt/sand the whole time lol. When I take him out after/during the rain he runs straight to the mudd and eats mouthfuls at a time..then he fraps like crazy! Then last night he got into pool filter sand and took a mouthful to that! (he looked at me like he didn't do anything wrong) So all day today he has been pooping the rainbow of dirt and sand that he has been eating.  I am not worried with the amount he has had yet, but I am worried that he will eat an absurd amount come beach day. When we go to dog parks he doesn't just sit there and eat dirt, so there's a chance that this isn't even an issue.

When I try to tell him NO..he thinks its a game of chase. But I don't want him to mix up fun time and punishment time.

Any tips, comments or suggestions?

I am sure he will be too occupied at the beach to eat a lot of sand.. but i would just keep an eye on him and try and keep him from inhaling too much. If you want to teach him not to eat dirt try some Cayenne Pepper. If you put some of the dirt when he goes to eat it he will notice it is spicy and wont want to eat it.. hopefully! Good luck and have fun at the beach.
put some on* the dirt
Have fun!
