Hi all!

This isn't really a behavioral complaint, but I found it rather amusing -- and new to the breed, was just curious if anyone else's corgi did this....

My corgi puppy loves my shoes.   But no, not to chew on (we made that clear from day one)---he loves laying on them and falling asleep.  Sometimes with his whole muzzle IN the shoe.  (YUCK!)  I hope he IS sleeping and isn't passing out. LoL!  He'll take his entire nap on my shoes or my husband's shoes.

I know dogs often like articles of clothing from their human as a sense of comfort ---  but, seriously?  Shoes?!  LoL!  It just looks so uncomfortable, especially when his fluffy bed is in the very same room!

Never had a dog that wanted to sleep on my shoes...LoL!  It's definitely odd to me, but still I would rather him sleep on them then be tempted to chew on them.  :]

Frosty likes to attack shoes... but only if you are wearing them lol! (see here http://www.mycorgi.com/video/attack-the-walking-shoes) He used to eat them, but I finally trained him to only eat my husbands sandals. Now he just attacks them while you are wearing them. Except for my slippers. He acts like my slippers are his personal stuffed animal toys and he sleeps on them like they are pillows.

Somewhere on this site, there is another corgi like yours!  I have seen pictures of a pup sleeping in / on / by a shoe.  Don't know who it is, but you're not alone!

ah...... that's the good stuff!

Young Mocha, the shoe connoisseur.

I believe the truth behind it is that it's filled with your scent and that's why they love to sleep on shoes/slippers.  The same as how dogs of any sort love to sleep on dirty laundry or a pile of sheets.  Ellie loved to sleep with her face against or inside of my slippers during her first few months with us.  At 8 months old, she's pretty much grown out of it, but I do miss it a bit.  Now she prefers to sleep on the bottom shelf of our television stand.  ;)

Kirby naps

Here is Kirby napping on my shoes.  He and his sister had a shoe fettish when they were little.  They would steal my slippers so often that I finally had to relenquish ownership of them.  They would take them out of the closet and proudly march around the house with a slipper hanging out of their mouths.

haha way too cute!:]

Tucker sleeps on shoes as well!!  I have a picture of him sleeping on top of a flip flop.  Just recently, when my in laws were here to visit, Tucker put his snout into my father in laws shoe, and then was rubbing his face on the shoe, it was pretty funny!!!  I know dogs like to roll in smelly stuff, but shoes, lol!!! I guess my father in law needs a new pair of shoes.  :)

He might have started to chew on them then passed out.......that is sooooo funny

Ha, I just never had a dog other than Marty that did it.  My border collie used to sleep on shirts and stuff, but not shoes.  Yeesh, I would think if it had to do with my scent, he would be better off just laying near me, or picking some other piece of laundry.  :P  Then again, dogs do like stinky things! XD

Yup:) Wynn has done this since a pup. When we have company he also takes their shoes and they look like they are in shock but I tell them he has NEVER chewed one.. I actually have to look for 2 shoes that "match" some days as if I leave them out they are in a crate, in the computer room behind something or under a bench.

My 1st dog (Rusty, a terrier mix) wandered up to the house as a stray and we took him in.  Whenever he got outside, he would take off.  Soon, he'd return with a shoe that belonged to a neighbor.  Don't know how he got them, but for a while, we had random shoes laying around the yard that weren't ours.  He eventually stopped doing this.  We were never questioned about missing shoes.

Great one Emily! Wynn will actually stick his nose in the fli[ flops and try to remove them from peoples feet!
