Sick Hooman
Herro, MyCorgee folks.
I am a reetle bit conserned. My hooman, Rachaer, usooully sleeps 6-8 hours a day. She has bin sleeping for 13 or 14. I am soooo bored. Her sound has gottin vurry deep and she makes a "hack-hack" sownd and her face gets awl wet and schticky and she rubs payper awl ohvurr her snowt. How kin she play wiff me when she is so letharjik?

That is to say, I'm sick. I have't been able to take Waffle out for exercise coz I can't breathe. Even our inside playing is somewhat physically laborious. What can I do to keep him occupied while I drown in my own mucus?

Oh Waffle, I'm so sorry to hear your human is sick! I wish I could think of something that could help her keep you more occupied while she is getting better, but nothing comes to mind. I hope someone else here has some suggestions.
In the mean time.... Rachel, I hope you get to feeling better real quick! Can't wait to see how you're going to illustrate this one!!! I'm imagining you with a big red nose!! : )

Try a big red sore throat! My nose is only sort of leaky. This is more of a sick in my throat/lungs. :[ Waffle is just so sad coz I slept all day for 2 days in a row! I tried playing with him inside but all he wanted to do was go outside. The kicker here is, it's raining it's butt off so he can't even do that. hahaha.
I shouldn't laugh. My baby is suffering. (Yeah, right.)

A Kong!!!! Fill it with waffle's food then put some peanut butter in the end and freeze it. It will keep him occupied and he will love it! There are other toys that are great at keeping your boy occupied when you can't. It is very mentally stimulating as well. I hope this helps. I know my boys love the extra special treat. Feel better soon!

Franklin is recovering from surgery right now and I got him a medium sized everlasting treat ball and it works GREAT! Stuff it with homemade chicken jerky (or store bought since you are feeling under the weather!) and put the everlasting treat on it and it should keep him busy for at least....well since he's a corgi, probably only 15 min! haha. I also have a tug-a-jug and I think its called an omega treat ball, both are toys that slowly dispense his food when he rolls them around or tugs at them. And last of all, a stuffed kong that has been frozen. It's been a week today since Frank's surgery and all of these have kept him busy and happy with very little exercise (he's used to about 2 hours a day running and swimming). GOOD LUCK!

Trick your friends into looking into Waffle's eyes. Then they'll do anything he wants.
Just make sure they know how to handle a dog. Kinda like work: you have to train a substitute to handle your responsibilities when you're sick/on vacation.

Maybe a fetching game? Or you can teach him the names of his toys- that will involve a lot of him running around and you lying on the couch while he figures out exactly what is his "rope toy", etc.
Also, you could wear him out by having him chase a laser pointer dot. I've heard a lot of people object to this (word seems to be that this makes puppies particularly distractable or hyper) but it has never been a problem with Edison, who is bright enough to understand the "source" of this game. Whenever we pick up a laser pointer, he follows its light path to track down the mysterious red dot that is so fun to herd! It's a good way to wear him out when we can't spend much time outdoors (we're city folk).
Now that I think of it, I've always found Edison to be very sympathetic when I'm sick (he comes over and gives me kisses), but that could also be because I live with two other people who are happy to play with him when I'm down for the count.

Rachael - turn the shower on hot and sit in the bathroom get some steam therapy.
Waffle - perhaps you could play fetch inside, or snuggle up to your human (it makes humans feel better if they rub your belly).

Thanks for all the get well wishes and advice, everyone.
I went to the doctor yesterday and he determined I just have some virus. He prescribed me some medicine so I'm currently on some stuff to handle my symptoms. Bleeeh.
Waffle has been SUFFERING. Seriously. Thursday, I was in bed all day and he did nothinnnng but whine. I followed you guys' advice and gave him a frozen Kong, and put his kibble in his treat ball, gave him his bone, tried some fetch... Guys, I didn't know it, but Waffle is a rotten sonuvadog. If stuff is too hard to get out of his Kong, he won't do it. If his treat ball isn't producing kibble fast enough, he won't do it. He just gave up on his bone for some reason... and he's never been one for fetch, even when he's wound up I guess. GEEZE. He's so difficult, and whined for hours because of it. When I took him outside, he ran circles around me and I tried to chase him. He seemed to like that but I ended up gasping for air, hahaha. I played some with his toys inside, too, but damn. Kid has a lot of energy I don't notice when I'm not sick (coz I play with him for 1+ hour everyday, typically!)
Anyway, with medicine I felt good enough to go outside and run a little and generally tucker him out. :> I'm currently setting him up to teach him the name of his toys, too.
Thanks for all your advice, even if Waffle is too stubborn/rotten to take it. :3
