Teaching My Corgi To File Her Own Nails

Last night I built a doggie nail file for Bernie to begin learning how to file her own nails down. You can watch the first session in the video I made:

I'm using shaping which is a clicker training technique. Bernie has been doing shaping exercises for a long time and always tries new and novel things when new objects are presented into her environment.

Thank u so much for posting this. I have such a hard time cutting or filing Henry's nails. I have taken him to the vet to have them cut his nails and I have taken him to a groomer. He screams and jumps around so much that they have such a hard time trying to clip any of his nails. I am definitely giving this a try. Henry loves learning new things. Thank u =)

Suggestion: employ a helper to distract him. Initially, I could not do this without help with Al. He's gotten better (luckily, he wears his claws down fast).
