Just keep in mind you have a Corgi and My would eat the table (and has some what) if i let him. We can't us the work beef any more or my Pippin will cry! Eukanuba is a great food and if the puppy likes it that is all that matters. don't for get a little chicken in your pocket goes a long way on a walk... Good Luck and have fun....

I wouldn't mind keeping her on Eukanuba Pure except I'm having a hard time finding it locally and it's pricey on Amazon. I found Canidae really cheap locally (cheaper than Blue Buffalo at Petsmart). Orijen is also available at a few local feed stores too but it's also expensive. However I keep on hearing hype about the grain free diet so I'm a bit confused and don't know if I should just fork out the extra bucks for the grain free formula.

My girls eat Orijen and love it.  I have noticed recent changes in protien content from 70 / 30 to 80 / 20.  I love this food company and I do not want to change my dog's food. However, I am not really unsure about new 80 /20 ratio.  They have an new brand called ACANA.  The website is...  http://www.championpetfoods.com/acana/   The have many varieties and I think I am going to give this a try.  The transition should be easy considering many ingredients are the same as Orijen... just different ratios.

Just like us they need a good round diet! Peppers-carrots and the like. Try the the food with the grain and see how the baby handles it.. you will know

I feed my pups and adults Taste of the Wild and it is grain free. They(pups) get the salmon because it has a lower protein content (24%) the other TOTW is too high protein until they reach at least a year. You can find a locater on their web site and I was surprised to find a farm store only 20 miles from me carried it:) When she gets older there are at least 4 varieties but their protein is much higher than a large breed pup can have. I used to feed Canidae but quit as the place where it is made puts some yucky chemical in the regular Diamond food and I didn't want to take the chance! Good luck! I feed mine 3 handfuls a day which is about 1 1/2 cups so to me I believe the price is ok. TOTW is a 6 star rating food I believe.

I feed my babies the Canidae all stages. I separated the food into two feeding, in the morning they get dry with a scoop or yogurt, and then in the evening I give them the food with some water and sardines.  They love the sardines and the omegas are great for them!!

I tried an all protein, but they all got the runs.  I have 2 corgis and 2 min pins.  They are all different ages and so the all stages is great for my crew!

Oh and they love raw carrots as a treat!  They gotta be cold though, they enjoy the crunchy!

I personally wouldn't feed a young puppy such a high protein food as I would worry about her growing too fast. Whatever you buy, make sure you just get a small bag first to make sure it agrees with her, some of those foods are too rich for a lot of dogs to handle.

Canidae All Life Stage is a very good kibble - on Whole Dog Journal's list of recommended dog foods. Make sure you get the one that has chicken meal as the #1 ingredient. If you can get that food at a good price, snatch it up (if it agrees with your pup, that is).  If it does, I wouldn't worry about it containing grain. Not all grain is bad - it's just that some dogs are allergic to it (especially corn and wheat).  High protien diets are usually best saved for older, very active dogs.  Good luck.

Thanks for all the tips! I'm leaning towards Canidae mostly because of the price and has consistent good reviews. I'm a struggling grad student that also needs to feed myself lol.

My breeder recommends Canidae Chicken and Rice ALS of all the formulas since it's the most similar to what she's eating now. I also checked the ingredient list- Chicken Meal is the #1 ingredient so we're good to go on that =)
