So, I will be gone on vacation for Thanksgiving, which will total three days. I'm already extremely apprehensive about going because I've never been away from the pooch for longer than 8 hours or so. However, I'm going to suck it up and go. Anyway, I have a friend who said she would love to watch Hannah while I'm away. I'm all for this, but I'm not sure how to work the situation.

Hannah is crate trained. She gets crated any time we aren't home, but at night, she's free to move around the bedroom and choose where she wants to sleep. My friend has two other dogs, whom Hannah gets along with great and visits frequently. She will be home most of these three days but I'm sure will be away for some time on Thanksgiving day, at least. Hannah is still not 100% on potty training, so I'm sure it would be best to bring her crate there.

My main question is what should be done when no one is there? Should Hannah be crated in a separate room away from the other dogs (they are not crate trained). Or, is it better to keep her crated around the other dogs? Any thoughts or suggestions?

If it were me, I'd crate her away from the others. No matter how well they know each other, they don't live together so you don't know if some issue or other might crop up. Chances are it would not be a problem if they were loose and she was crated, but I'd want to use an abundance of caution and keep her crated quietly away from the others. There's less chance of a marking incident or something that way.
I agree with Beth. By the way I always worry about mine when I am away, it really doesn't go away!
I know! When we board Jack, if we're gone more than a couple days I usually call to ask how he's doing.
When we left for a weekend my mom came out and stayed with them most of the time. Friday was the bad day as my mom works that day. Afriend took them ro her house to play with her 3. We were still in trouble when we got home though.
I agree. Your dog should be in a separate room, away from your friend's dogs while unsupervised. They may get along, but you never leave yours alone with your friend's dogs at THEIR house. They might all of a sudden get territorial, and gang up on your dog. You should always take your dog's crate when you are leaving her with someone's house. She should always have a place she feels comfortable (her crate) to go to. :)

If you are still worried (which you probably will be), ask your friend to take pictures of your dog on cell phone and send them to you while you are away. Your dog's smiley face should make you feel better! :))
Thanks for all the suggestions! I will be talking with my friend tonight about the situation. I also thought it would be best to crate her alone, but since I've never done this before, I knew I could get some useful advice from you all. I know she will be fine, but I don't know how I'm going to stand not having those Corgi kisses for three days. :(
