What is the right amount of shots to get????
Right before I got Skye I called the vet and they said she will need them at 6, 8, 12, 16 weeks. Then when I take her in for her 16 weeks and rabies they say she needs a 6 month booster. I have looked all over the internet and called another vet and found nothing on a 6 month booster. Anyone else heard of this????

What we do (based on a somewhat ridiculous amount of research) is this:
8, 12 weeks: Recombitek C4 (parvo, distemper, adenovirus, parainfluenza (NO lepto, no corona)
After six months: Rabies
One year later: Rabies
Three-year intervals: Rabies
Three- to five-year intervals: Recombitek C4
Never: Lepto, Lyme, corona, Giardia, kennel cough

Talking about vaccines is kind of like opening up a giant can of worms! =) Everyone has different opinions, even within the veterinary field. However, I think that almost everyone would agree that getting 6 month boosters is ridiculous. Absolutely not! Were they saying that just certain shots need a 6 month booster? I know that the protocol on shots like Lepto, Bordatella etc is 4-6 months (I am NOT saying I endorse these particular vaccines, I just know that's what most practices will do).
I refuse (and actually with one of my dogs am in a co-own with the breeder where I am forbidden in the contract) to vaccinate more than Dr. Jean Dodds' schedule. And I actually choose to do even slightly less than Dr Dodds' schedule. I will do rabies every 3 years, just because of the legal implications should my dog ever decide to bite anyone, but no more. And I absolutely will not do annual boosters. They are unnecessary, IMO.
Here is an interesting article about pet vaccines. I am interested to see how the protocol changes in the next couple of decades.
I will say that I can't prove anything, of course, but my first Aussie had a terrible immune system as a puppy (he received 5 rounds of "puppy shots" and a rabies, in addition to 4-5 rounds of antibiotics for all the illnesses he later picked up... he pretty much had no immune system) and picked up every bug, was constantly sick for the first year, always itchy, vomited at least once a week, and at the end of that first year developed a case of mange that only pops up in either very young pups or dogs with compromised immune systems. Later that same year my 4 year old cat developed Inflammatory Bowel Disease within 3 weeks of her "yearly boosters." Those two things have completely changed how I vaccinate, medicate, and feed my pets, and I must say, I like the results I'm getting now much better!

I would find out which vaccine he needs a booster on, then check your records and check the protocols for that particular vaccine.
We had no 6-month shots. Was one skipped or delayed that he needs a booster? Without knowing which particular shot they are suggesting, it's hard to say for sure.

She got one puppy shot from the breeder at 6 weeks. Then since Ive had her she got a shot that the vet put on her papers as Galaxy DA2PPv that she got at 8, 12, and 16 weeks. Then they said she needs the 6 month booster for it.

No, she doesn't. She's had plenty of vaccines and if your vet insists I'd find a new vet.
