When we go to the lake and there are other dogs i have to put a leash on my corgi because she tries to boss some big dogs that are 2x bigger than her and i don't want her to get hurt. It seems like she really does think shes a big dog.
Corgis tend to be bossy by nature since they were bred to herd livestock and keep critters out of the garden. You can train her not to behave rudely to other dogs by correcting her when she does it. Obedience classes help a lot. Beth recently posted a cool video of a corgi herding cattle which illustrates the behavior of a good working corgi.
That is why your Corgi is so bossy. As to whether or not to tolerate it, I would judge the other dogs' reactions. A lot of big dogs enjoy rough play and don't mind being bossed around. If they all seem to be having fun I would probably let it go. If the big dogs seemed annoyed, I would correct the Corgi or remove her if she would not stop.
Corgis are herding dogs, with proper training and gifted instincts, they will stand up to a cow, maneuver out of their kick zone and "boss" them around. Unless the other dog is aggressive and the owner don't mind, I won't worry too much.
Penelope is very bossy when we are at the dog park. If labs or other big dogs are running around out of order she gets so loud and bossy. Yet, she lets a small beagle hump her and she just sits there and takes it. I don't mind her being bossy and most of the time the other big dogs don't mind. I just worry about the other dogs owners getting annoyed by her. Like others have said, good training and time will help with the bossiness.
My cousin come over with her silkie yorkie and oh my goodness the hairs on Freckles's back stood up i had to put her up I felt bad because she wasn't with the familey. my cousin said she'll be fine but her little silkie decided it wasn't he charged Freckles i didn't know what to so so grabed Freckles by the collar and dragged her back to my room on the way there she was grawling and her lips were curling. I wasn't worried about Freckles getting hurt but I was worried about the little dog i new it would be bad if she got a hold of him.
