A couple months ago Sammie had torn her CCL because of luxating patella which she has in both knees. Well the vet wanted to give her time to build up scare tissue to maybe not have to get the surgery which we didn't think we could afford at $2,000. Anyways... A physical therapist that I work with had the exact same thing with there dog and the vet went in and found the ligament actually wasn't torn and only paid $300 for securing the patella. And even if it was torn they would still pay a quarter of what I was going to pay. So I decided I see this vet this Friday and find out if Sammie needed the surgery and if she does we can actually afford it now! :) I don't feel like a bad mommy to my puppy now. Eventually she will need it on the opposite leg and there is no way to avoid arthritis the vet said. Anyone have any suggestions for a joint supplement to help prevent/Aid arthritis? I will update after I see the vet this Friday!

Good luck with the new vet, Elizabeth!  I hope it all goes well for you and Sammie!

Thank you :)

Good luck with the vet visit!!!

Best of luck to you and Sammie!

After Snicker's knee surgery, she was given Dasuquin chewable tablets. It is expensive- but not as bad as surgery. I give it to her and my 10 year old spaniel who started showing signs of hip problems at 5.

The vet has me buy the size for large dogs and give her half a tablet a day. Snickers weighs 22 pounds.

Sammie was given the same thing almost a different brand. She hasn't gotten surgery cuz she still has growth plates and its not good for her to get a repair when she is growing so they want to wait so she is on those zinc glucosamine and fatty acid chews.
