Hi my Corgi PILGOR and my kids will like to join the Bay Area and Northern California Corgis. Pilgor is 7 months old and loves to play with other dogs.  We would love to get together at parks with other Corgis.

Please do your own homework on pet insurance.  You will find many different plans and you need to look at the details.  Pet Plan seemed the most flexible and I received positive feedback from at least 2 people I know that have used it.

I found the cost is about the same.  When I had VPI I found that their are a lot of items that only cover 50% and they had cap on things like medications/shots.  So, if Bella got shots for example and this isn't exact.  Their cap would be say $35.00 for the year.  If she need to exceed that or needed something later in the year, it was all out of pocket.  :(  Live and learn..

With VPI, you need to stay away from the preventive coverage as well.  There is no way you can break even or even get close to what you paided out in premiums.  They had too many clauses for me and each time we went to the doctor it seemed like they didn't cover what we had done.

Yes, Pet Plan is excellent!  I've had VPI and was not impressed.  Pet Plan covers major medical and illness.  You tell them what kind of coverage you want.  So, Bella has a $50.00 deductable per illness but covers 100% and up to $8,000.00.  You can get coverage for up to $20,000 if you want it with with any combo of deductable and what percentage you want them to cover.  So they can cover 80%, 90% etc.

I know several people who have had to use them and all rave about them.  One of friends cats had cancer and they cover the keno (didn't spell that right) 100% based on her plan.

Another friend had to use it for the same issue as Bella.  I believe they had an 80% coverage with $100.00 deductable the balance Pet Plan paid.

They do not exclude breed specific problems as long as your vet had it documents that they have been examined and do not have it at the time the plan is put in place.

Their web site is  :  http://www.gopetplan.com/

Tell them Debbie Algieri sent you.

So sorry to hear about Bella. We hope she get's better soon. So, you say Petplan is a good pet insurance? I've been contemplating whether to start using a pet insurance or not.

Funny you should say something about limping.  Bella started to limp 2 days ago.  After first, we just stopped playing and she was fine in a few minutes.  The next day, the same thing happened and took her to the Vet.  She has Luxating Patella in her rear leg (joint slipping out).  It is very unusally for Corgi's to get this so we decided to keep her down for two weeks and see if it will take care of itself.  If not, she will have to have surgery to repair it.  Thank goodness for "Petplan" insurance.  If surgery is required, it should cover it 100%...

I'm still uncertain if Frodo and I will be at the Mountain View meetup this Saturday (and thank you for posting about it, Veronica!). After a walk yesterday he was limping quite a bit, although he's stopped again. I'm afraid he may run around too much. I guess I'll evaluate as the week goes on...... this may be an ongoing issue for him!
