Jason,
Frasier had the cough a day after we got him home. We had him on meds already, and it lasted about a week, but he got over it. I know it sounds dreadful the way they choke and hack, but it is treatable. Just keep an eye open to avoid pnumonia, and good luck. She's lucky to have found such a loving owner.

I hope she gets better soon, Jason! Poor thing needs to get home to you ASAP. When you do, be really careful that she can't get out of an open door or under a fence. Corgis are notorious bolters....believe me, I know!

Went to the shelter to take care of the adoption paperwork and pay the fees. Unfortunately the poor thing is starting to get kennel cough, so they're putting her on meds and we will have first dibs as soon as she is better. :) We got to talk to the girl who was at the front desk when she was brought in, and it's a good thing Ein is built low. Apparently the woman who brought her in grabbed her from the middle of the street after she was nearly run over. The car drove right over the top of her and only missed because of that low corgi body. Talk about close calls...

well, the tails are docked by the breeder, and in the case of this little mixed breed, they most likely did not go to the trouble to dock her. Sid, as a Pem, does have a prominent breastbone and his feet do turn out too. Bruce, my mix, also has the same features.

I'm certainly no expert but I read that the breed standard for CWC's is a prominent breastbone, white at the tip of the tail and mottled feet, which also point outwards rather than straight. PWC's I read, do not have a prominent breastbone and have feet that are straight, and most of the time have docked tails. *shrug*

Well, she sure looks like a Pem. Sidney was never docked and has a tail very similar to hers (from what I can see anyway) :-)

Thanks everybody. I went to visit her one last time before they close for Christmas and she'll be available first thing Friday morning and we're first on the list so it should be pretty much a done deal. The only hitch is that their vet is on vacation so they're having to transport her for spaying. Because of that we don't know when we're going to be able to take her home.

I was basing my guess of cardi mostly on her tail, but I could be mistaken. :)

She is a cutie, but I would say she is more of a Pem, than a Cardi at first glance. As for her ears, at her age, they'll stay in that position. Anyway, keeping my fingers crossed for ya!

Thanks G&S. :)

Jeff: Nope we still have to wait. I've wheedled and begged to the max but they're very strict at this shelter and apparently I don't have the baby fur seal eyes down like Ein does. I couldn't even get her out to play with her yet. In fact, she isn't fixed and the shelter has a small backlog in their clinic, so while I'm pretty confident we'll be able to officially adopt her on Friday morning, we will probably have to wait until early next week before we can take her home. I haven't had enough time with her yet, but she seems very bright and loving so far. She definitely seemed to remember me when I came today and was more friendly than yesterday. I'm probably gonna go tomorrow and Wednesday as well, and I'm sure by the time we have her, the people at the shelter will think I'm a bloody nuisance. :)

Thanks to everybody for the well wishes. This site has quickly become my second biggest internet addiction, just behind flickr. :)

Jason, did you get her yet? I know you said after christmas, but maybe you could get them to cut some slack. I got my boy at the APL and brought him home that same afternoon, and I gotta tell ya, I'm a Corgi convert. He's mixed but way too smart for his own good, and a tough on the outside, soft in the middle pussycat. I don't dicipline dogs by hitting them, but even if I did....it would do no good on him. Best to just be angry when he screws up (and he does quite a bit) and ignore him....that is punishment enough.
