Crazy But Loved Corgis Who Sometimes Get On Our Nerves

This group, which has a really long title, is for the owners that still love their dogs even though they are huge trouble makers- for example, chewing up expensive shoes.

Sherlock

This picture is of Sherlock, he looks really innocent but when we went into the bathroom, a bottle of shampoo was in pieces all over the floor, along with the actual shampoo. He was in huge trouble, but we managed to still love him.

@Mark - It's comforting to know that over the years most grew out of their craaaazy Corgi ways. Rafa is beginning to show tentative signs of getting more in control of his hyper ways. He's really bonded so much with Jack and me. Initially, he only bonded with Lucy, much to her chagrin! We re-homed him at 16 wks. Now that he loves us he tries harder to please and is doing way less destructive stuff. He's a little over a year and I suspect that at about 2 he'll be less a handful. He is, though, incredibly sweet and gentle. And, he is hilarious. His antics are a throwback to my beloved Corgi, Rookie, of long ago.

I have had five corgis over the years and everyone of them would have been eligible for this group but most grew out of it. Now it's just Belle but we have only had her a few months.

Not only does Rafa thrill in taking things of ours that he knows he shouldn't touch, but he also took parts of our electricians' lunch and later stole a cup and a bottle of iced tea from another electrician. They love him––think he's hilarious. They especially get a kick out of the fact that he doesn't listen to my husband or me.

@Sherlock - I think you are absolutely irresistible and adorable with your ears down. I love your profile photo. You look so innocent and incapable of ever causing mischief.

PS What is your owner's name?

Oh, I just lost an entire message that I was sending to you. I just went to check your name and realized that you only posted Sherlock's name. That was all it took to lose my whole message. Mainly, I wanted to thank you for this site. It helps to know that I'm not the only one with a high-maintenance Corgi. Since we re-homed him our tranquility often goes south. He's much less destructive now (yay!) so we're making strides. Mainly, it's the barking of both Lucy and Rafa. Before we got him, Lucy only barked if someone was at the door. Since Rafa, she barks the entire time they frap. Beth, a mycorgi member, said that it's normal for herding dogs to bark while they herd. We have never had a barking herder til Lucy. And Rafa barks every time he needs attention from Lucy or us, which is all they time. We love and cherish this pair, but at times arghhhhhh.

Aw Jane. I feel your pain.  ;)

Just got back from the Corgi Specialty Show in Pomona. What a kick to see so many beautiful Corgis running the Fairplex. Very nice venue. Indoors, A/C.

@ Lucy- I have at least 2 top sheets that look like your blanket from a few years ago....I think it might have been Livvy.

I now have a kitchen floor with a 2" by 6" piece if linoleum gone:) Sage ran off to the back hall kennel when I asked who did this! DH will not be happy when he returns on Sat. I was gone for about 9 hours yesterday and sage is used to us being around or going with. Guess I know who will be crated if we have to be gone that long:(

Just when you think you're "safe"!

HI Amy, Just curious, how old is Gabby? I'm trying to convince myself that by 2 yrs (or worst case scenario, at 3 yrs) RR will be a perfect dog. Am I deluding myself? I love this craaazy boy.

@Bev- Happy to make Sparty seem like the piece of cake that his is!! I look forward to your bringing Sparty here and watching all the antics. I went to the SoCA Specialty show today. Lots of fun. I was smart enough to leave RR home and just took Lucy. RR would have been bored to tears w/in minutes and barked at every competitior!

Thank you Wendy for the pics! Makes me feel better too. Gabby loves to chew up anything she can find. I swear she is worse than our Golden when he was a pup. We love her and are trying to learn that we need to hang anything we like from the ceiling lol :)
