Coyotes are trash animals and are everywhere. My office is by the Portland Airport and there are always coyotes walking around our office building in the am and when it is getting dark. They just sit and stare like they're not afraid. So many rabbits for them to eat outside and the occasional trash they find. Creepy little guys.

We have coyotes too, and wild pigs! We always put corie in the truck or put her on a leash after dark. The barn manager killed a coyote not to long ago, he said they were killing his chickens..

OMG! the bangers have lead stomachs! nothing comes back up. As for snakes, we've only had friendly type snakes around here so far...nothing dangerous...but the coyotes have been getting braver and braver. I make sure that the corgis are in the tackroom anytime I am out after dark.

Not that I'm aware of.. guess I should do some research. I know that King snakes can kill rattlers, but have not seen any of those around. We have lots of ground squirrels, so I know the snakes probably help with the population.. but I sure do not like them.

Oh dear..now that is scary! Is there anything that you can spray to keep them away?

yep, our Corie loves to eat the hoof trimmings, and she usually throws them back up later. She found a frog one day that had been run over, it was flat as a pan cake, and she carried it around until one of us figured out what it was. My biggest fear, is we have rattle snakes at the stable where I keep my horse, we killed 3 in one week, and one was in my horses stall!

Hey Katie...They do love the hoof trimmings. As far as it being okay..well we give cow hooves to ours but they have been cleaned and sanitized. With the hoof trimmings they can choke but the biggest concern is the cleanliness and parasites. But no matter what..if you Corgi is hangiing out in a stable he will probably nibble on horse dung and scrounge around so no matter how hard you try..you will have a dog that will get into something. The biggest and quickest response to hoof trimmings is later that night he will probably let you know he got some by bringing it back up. hehe

Hi Everyone,

Should I be worried that the corgis pork out on hoof trimmings after the farrier has been out? It is impossible to pick them all up on the dirt floor but they always manage to find some savory pieces! One farrier said it was okay because it is all protein.

Hi there, I too am having horse show withdraws. I showed for over 30 years, mostly Open Shows and then showed for about 5 years with AQHA. Still have my retired off track thoroughbred who is now 27years old. Been lucky to have had three corgi's that have owned me in my lifetime. Just seems like Horses and Corgi's go together! Oh, and don't forget kids too! I'll be sure and add somemore pictures soon. Cindi
