I am a behavior consultant (of the human variety) in Oklahoma. I believe the principles of applied behavior analysis pertain to dogs as well. I do not like to say that I trained my dog; but I did raise him with the principles of ABA. Very natural, positive, progressive, and individualized. Never a one size fits all or negative practice. The results have been so encouraging, almost as if he is one step ahead of me and knows what behavior I am looking to shape next. I take my dog, Buddha to some of my clients (most often kids) sessions and he has really helped the kids I work with. He is my little ABA corgi. He is also my first corgi and I am hooked!

growing up, my parents raised jack russells. I was not impressed with their craziness so I decided a corgi would be a more mellow option and better fit. I did learn how to pick a dog, based on all the puppies I helped care for as a child. So........thats how Buddha came into my life!

I grew up in a dog show family,so I really appreciate the good quality breeding that it takes to be a champion.I owned and trained many many border Collies,and was able to purchase a truely brilliant dog..Hangin Tree Jean.I have an affinatey with the herding breeds,,just cant help myself!!!lon
I longer have cattle ,but friends who have sheep,so I am hoping to have fun with my new Corgi that I will get in January!!!

Hello my name is Trenton and I am a Paramedic in the San Fransisco Bay Area. I currently show my Blue boy Captain and in Jan along with my wife with start tracking with both of our corgis along with Captain's brother.

Hi, I'm hoping mostly to learn here. In addition to my two dogs, I usually have for months at a time various dogs belonging to family members who go through circumstances in which they are unable to keep their dogs for a time. So in essence I "rescue" or I suppose I should say "foster" their dogs until they can take them back. One daughter used to work for a prominent animal rescue/care facility and we strove to rehabilitate a very traumatized Black & Tan Coonhound. Currently I have been caring for a rescued (psychotic, ADHD but precious) pit bull recovering from a broken leg that now belongs to another family member. My wee granddaughters on their own renamed me "Grandma Dogs," lol, and that is now my nickname, I do try to work with and help these animals, but I am not trained and am always looking for new information and insights. My Corgi we got as a pup and bonded to where I know what she's trying to tell me without words. I know she loves me as much as I love her.

Hello all,

Thanks for inviting me to join this group. I work as an admin officer for a manufacturing company in Tasmania. I wish we had "pet days" at work but unfortunately Luther can only visit very briefly, so I have to make do with the occasional pat of the work guard dog.

Luther is the third dog I've owned and the second Cardigan. He came to live with me after he was returned to his breeder following an unsuccessful placement. Like Luther, my previous Cardi, Rhys, was returned to his breeder (although his owner had developed a terminal illness and was making appropriate arrangements). My first dog, Bear, a German Shepherd, was on his way to the pound after 3 previous owners - at 9 months of age - when he came to me. My four cats are all foundlings, and my bird was an unwanted pet. Clearly, I just can't say no (and don't really want to).

Rhys & Bear were wonderful dogs. I miss them both & I never regretted taking either of them for a second. As Luther has just chewed a new pair of shoes, I'm not sure that I can say the same for him at present :) However he's a very loving little dog & gets on well with the cats.

Hi everyone,
I am pleased to have been invited to join this group so here is my 'dog' story. A few years ago I had a Pembroke Corgi called Rusty (or should I say he had me). Unfortunately where I live now I can't have pets. I wanted some kind of business that I enjoyed doing so opened an eBay store www.personaliseddoggifts.com. Just recently I have started a website www.showdogtrophies.com. I use pictures of various breeds of dogs and put the pictures on many items e.g. watches, clocks, handbags, keyrings etc. The best part of my business is the 'Memorial' section where customers can use their own pictures on the items. I quite often get friendly with these customers who tell me the story behind the picture and some are quite sad. Then when the customer receives the item, they send a message to say how happy it has made them feel. That is the best part of my business. My advice is to take pictures while you can.

Hi Debby,
I believe that Spenser has stayed with you, to look after you, to keep you company and be safe until he is longer needed. When he is sure that Cody is taking care of you he will move on. He already knows that you and Cody are ok, he is just enjoying Cody's energy.

I monitor the domestic violence centers in the state and so I travel a lot. I adopted Cody in June after being dogless since January. My last dog Spenser who was a big lab/border collie died of old age. Cody came along and stole my heart. He is my best bud. Some nights I actually think that Spenser comes in the house to play with Cody. At the same time each night I find Cody looking at the spot where Spenser used to hang out and them sometimes he will begin to do that Corgi play. It is eery, but it makes me feel good. Cody is my first Corgi and I can't wait to come home each day from work to be with him. Sometimes he travels with me. Spense traveled with me too and so it is nice to have a fellow traveler with me again. Thanks for asking me to join the group.
