Ah...before each class, there's a 20 minute walkthrough during which you get to walk the course (without your dog) and ask the judge questions if you need clarification on anything. It's a great chance to familiarize yourself with the course so that most of your focus can be on your dog when your turn comes.
What is a walkthrough?
$5 Thurs night "run through" is WITH my dog
& I'm guessing a walkthrough is for the HANDLER only the day of the match to get the layout of the signs?
He can do his business "on command" I'll remind him to "go" before he enters the facility.....thanks for the reminder...what a simple thing that can get lost in a hectic day.
I do bring a kennel...but Oliver doesn't like it at all at a show. So when I can, I also bring a person to hold him when I do the walk through. My dear friend Cary has volunteered to come to this show. :)
As far as watching other people's comp., the general rule is that if your pup is well-behaved and quiet they can stand/sit with you outside the ring. As a common courtesy (and there may be a rule) I try to site toward the back or stand in the doorway away from the ring. The hotel this is at is very nice about all the dogs. You can walk them through the lobby. Avoiding accidents is critical though if we want to maintain such good will. :)
Anne, I added you # also, would love to say Hi at the trial (& meet Oliver)
Gail and/or Anne
I'm assuming you bring a kennel? What are the rules about walking around with a dog? For example, if you're watching someone elses comp., what do you do with your dog?
The judge was laughing, too. :) We lost points, of course (we were in the low 80s). But...and this is the key, he came back to me.
Clarification, to title in RAE you need to get a Q in both RE-B and RA-B in the same trial (same day) and you have to do it a total of 10 times!
I'm hoping to be competing at that level when the PWC National comes to Wisconsin in 2015.
Carolyn, I've added your number to my phone. Mine's 262-248-1128. Hope to see you there!
I just watched your video ...... CUTE :) :) He did really well.
I didn't realize the udges don't disqualify you when your dog "runs off for a bit". I guess I thought we had to be perfect. Were your judges nice about that?
Rally Excellent is divided into A and B. A is for people who have never titled a dog in Rally Excellent before and B is for those who have. RAE is after you finish RE. To title in RAE you need to get a Q in both RE-B and RA-B on the same day. Hope that helps clear things up! :)
I think RAE and RE-A are the same? You and Oliver made it through Novice and Advanced, and now you're starting in excellent that's....well.....EXCELLENT :-)
Thanks for the tip about what to wear. I was going to wear what I wanted to, but it's nice to know I won't be too out of place :)
My name is Carolyn (& Sonny) call me that day if you want to say hi
