Oops! I think I accidentally deleted my one post. LOL Oh well. :P

So a quick question for you rally folks! Where are you training through the winter? Our kennel club does not have an indoor facility so we do all of our club practices outside at one of our member's houses... which means that when the weather goes bad we are done with weekly practice. And as you know practicing in the house doesn't give enough of a challenge.

Hmm, I wonder if people would look at us strangely if we practiced obedience at a dog friendly place like PetSmart. lol

Thanks Patty! Best of luck in Sacramento. John and I both think we may need to hit some of the Cali trials since Ashton is such a sun dog and loves hot weather. The hotter the better for him. The Central Valley in July is pretty much the weather Ashton loves. *melts* He would love to Rally in the olives and almonds. lol The Pacific Northwest is pretty much moderate to cool weather except where we live which is the desert part of the state. :)

Welcome to our little group Kelly! Sounds like Rhys has been busy! I don't think anyone really feels ready for competition. You just have to remember that the most important thing about all of these dog sports is that you and your dog get to spend time together bonding. Q or NQ, it's all time well spent. :)

There is a quote I really like. It says: "The real joy is in the privilege and ability to step up to the start line with your dog by your side. Not in crossing the finish line victorious over others." I keep this in mind and really it puts things into perspective. Especially when you watch a rain soaked corgi run out of the Rally ring. LOL

Ashton would love tracking but the problem is he thinks his nose needs to be in the ground during Rally. So we are putting off starting him in Tracking until he finishes RE. We are also putting off going for his RAE. The thought of having to Q in both Advanced and Excellent at the same show x 10... ugh. Plus, he is going to start competing in Agility in the spring and he really loves that.

If only we had more time and money this would be much easier! lol

Yay, tracking! I just started the very first tracking workshop on Sunday. My girl, Crystal, really liked that too - so I might eventually branch out, keeping my boy Frodo in Rally, and putting my girl in Agility and Tracking. If I have any time left. ;)

I'm so glad to hear you guys are involved in Rally. I've been taking my clown-boy, Rhys, through CGC, Rally, Agility, and now Tracking...and have really enjoyed it all. We haven't competed yet...I'm not good enough, but I'm sure that'll be in the future some time.

Oh no!!! Well, congrats to Ashton on the fantastic performance on the first day! And as for the second day, that's pretty tough - my two would not be happy at working in the rain either, frankly. Oh well! :)

I entered both of mine in a show in Sacramento CA on Oct. 10th, going to see if one or both can get their RN then. Then, we'll need to do a lot of training!! Off-leash leashing is something that Crystal refuses to admit understanding. Frodo actually enjoys off-leash healing, so his jump to the RA world probably will come quicker! :)

That's great!! I am hoping to get the final leg for both of my crew in October, assuming they actually Q for their last leg! It was rather close, for Crystal, at her last show.... Hopefully she does better this time!

And I hope we get more group members too! :)

Yeah for a Rally group! Congratulations on the QQ for Frodo and Crystal! That is wonderful!

Ashton has his RN title and first leg in Advanced. My hubby John is doing the handling. We are hoping to get his next two legs at a trial at the end of the month. It's outdoors so hopefully the weather will hold out for us. But at this point it's looking like rally in the rain. ugh. The joys of living in the Pacific Northwest. lol

I don't yet have a good rally picture, since most of what I got pictures of at the last rally event weren't generic (like the course) but instead were either videos (of the run) or pictures afterward. I'd love to hear about those who are doing rally, as we just started! Frodo and Crystal both earned their first two legs for RN this weekend!
