My husband and I will be celebrating our 18th wedding anniversary on July 23, 2011! Have 2 human kids and 2 fur kids. I now have the four kids I've always wanted. :)
Name: Lance
Breed: Cardigan Welsh Corgi(Blue Merle)
Birthday: October 30, 2005.
Current Age: 8 1/2
RIP 5-3-14
Was an only dog for 5 years, but not anymore! Learning about sharing, I hear sharing is good. :) I have corgi buddies already so hopefully it wont be too hard to share with my brother.
Lance is a pure breed cardigan corgi, at the moment he may appear like he is not because his ears are floppy. Lance is dealing with auto immune issues and vasculitis of the ears which affects the blood flow in his ears.
Name: Tucker
Breed: Red and White Pembroke. Was rescued from the
shelter March 6, 2011
Birthday: October 12, 2007
Current Age: 6
Tucker is a sweetheart, seems quite comfy here. :) So glad to be out of the shelter. I was so sweet the first time I met my potential owners I gave them lots of corgi kisses, I stole their hearts. <3
Lance has always pulled somewhat but it didnt seem as bad....now it seems worse....he gets so excited to see everyone. I think he just needs more leash training, I am going to try to be better about it.... Charlie left a suggestion about training, I am going to work on it. He said to call it leash training not walking and to start off in the backyard, then front yard etc...I tried once and it went great ....the problem is finding the time!!! ugh....so much to do and so little time. The weather has not been helping either...
Thanks for the welcome! I think the best thing we did for Bill is to get him a play mate. Mia and him are a match made in Heaven. They both complement each others personalities. Neither is too high strung and Mia keeps Bill in shape.
Thanks for remembering Cameron's 3 month birthday! He's doing great and is already learning how to crawl which kind of confuses Pancake. Pancake is great with Cameron except when he cries, Pancake tends to wander out of the room. It's actually quite funny because we know that's when he's had enough. I can't wait till Cameron gets a little bigger so he can interact with Pancake more.
I can't imagine life without a cardi long term, so we're planning to get a new puppy as soon as we can put together the funds and find a breeder who is willing to sell a pup to a family with lots of busy boys. :) Thanks!
i couldn't get kaijuu to wear the reindeer ears! so i had to take drastic measures: a costume :D thanks for commenting! and WOW i never saw pictures of a blue eyed corgi before! thats so awesome :D
Well thanks! I am excited-we have presents for her,am taking her to Petco for a pic and found recipe for a dog cake. You are awesome for leaving us a note!>Bethany
Thank you so much. I think I am gonna have to change foods again...This is the 4th one! She was very sick yesterday. I will be taking her to the vet. But I am going to try the food you suggested. Anything is worth a shot! Thanks!
Thank you thank you!My b.day is about to begin, even with it raining,my corgi spirits cannot be dampened today. And October is great, my mom likes it alot, and shes getting up there,too-ha ha!
Daisy is doing a lot better. The day I posted everything Daisy got really sick and wouldn't eat anything except rice and eggs...It was horrible! I was so stressed out! But, she is feeling better now and we have switched the food to the one you suggested. I do give her a little handful before bed because the vet thought maybe she was getting an upset stomach because it was empty. Since then I have not had any problems! No more waking up at 4 a.m. listening to my poor pup! Thank you so much for your suggestions! My Daisy thanks you too!!! I will keep you posted.
Cookie is a good dog. She is very happy when kids are around. I had read that we should only use the outside for potty training, but with the nice weather, we like being outside playing with her. So, I'm not sure how she is doing on potty training. She is good in her crate and sleeps the night, which is good.
Kerby is wonderful, she is a 23yr old female (me). My dog's name is Lucy and she's 6mos. But that's okay, you have no idea how many people meet me and say hey! I had a dog/cat/turtle/hamster/etc named Kerby!
Thank you :) Lance is beautiful - I love his blue eyes! I got Owen's pen from Petco online. I think the maker is precision pet. Unfortunately, the door is about 6 inches raised from the floor, so Owen has to hop over it to get out. I put a pillow outside the door and I have a blanket folded by the inside to lessen the clearance :)
Thank you, we think they are the most adorable things ever. All 4 of our corgis have very different personalities and abilities. We are so glad we "discovered" this breeed. They are not common in New England.
I just looked at your slideshow. The dogs are awesome. We had a lab/shep mix (passed a few months after our 1st corgi) and a rotw/husky mix before the corgis. I miss having a "big dog" but 4 is the absolute limit here. Is your corgi a full cardigan? It is so cute and has beautiful markings.
I live on the south east side of Chicago, very close to Indiana border but it is still Chicago. I'm always shopping at Orland! I think all they'd need is a Nordstrom's and I'd be so happy!
Thank you for you kind comments, We feel lucky to have found Fern! I just love looking at your pictures of Lance. He is georgous. Someday I would like to have a Cardi, but common sense tells me I will be waiting quite a while before I ads another dog!
We are doing great! Knock on wood, Cookie hasn't pooped in the house for quite a long time. She is a very happy dog and loves our kids and the neighbors' kids. I actually am getting more exercise walking her, and our kids are walking more, too. Thanks for asking. I hope to post pictures soon, although she doesn't look different. She likes to play with empty water bottles!
Becca will be in 3rd and Sarah in 2nd. They have been out since the end of May, as they go to a Lutheran school. We have been doing swim classes last week and this week. I still work 4 days a week, but have the summer planned for the girls to have fun. Does Lance protect your girls? Cookie is a people pleaser, so she doesn't do much protecting or guarding, but she is only 5 months old. If you are ever out this way, stop by! (Woodridge IL). I work at Argonne...do you know where it is?
Becca and Sarah are going to the YMCA for four weeks for summer camp! They go to school at 63rd and Fairview (DG) at Good Shepherd. I am usually off on Mondays, or the weekends are good, too, after this weekend. We would want to do something that the dogs could go to, too. How do you transport Lance?
We start puppy training at Petco this Thursday and the trainer has a Corgi! As my girls would say, "sweet"! Talk with you later.
Thaks for the comment and what a beautiful dog you have....i have never seen anything like his markings. What does "merle" really mean, i've been wondering.
Thanks, your dog is gorgeous. I told James I want a Cardigan one day. We'll see how that goes. The smaller the dog the easier it is to travel being military we travel quite a bit. So maybe after retirement. :) Anyway, he's very pretty!
He almost looks like a short speckled version of a wolf. You can tell your dogs are all well care for and loved. Do you have 4? I love living in San Antonio and a big reason is the dog park. It's a pretty dog friendly city. There are actually 2 nice dog parks but one is just about a mile away so we go there quite a bit. If it's not a hundred degrees we plan to meet up with another corgi owner tonight and let the dogs get together.
Thanks!! She will be 11 weeks I believe when we pick her up. The breeder didn't want to release before 10 weeks and it just works out that my husband and I have the Friday off for the 4th so we can take extra time to make the LONG drive up north to get her. :) And also for the way back as I don't want to do an 11 hour drive with a small puppy in the car (for her sake AND ours) LOL.
yes I do plan on crate training her. I heard such good things about it. the name is actually our last name, we will probably name her millie (after miller beer) but we will see her personality and dictate her name from there. we are just so happy with how well they do in apartments and with children as we will be trying for a baby soon. corgis are just such an all around good breed! your lance is a handsome one! amazing how they grow so fast!
Looking forward to meeting you and your family. I will need to stop by my house and get Cookie, then pick up the girls. See you at Hummer Park at 5:00!
Hi, I do it 1st by uploading my photos into Picassa; then I upload them into Picassa web albums. Then I choose a photo that I want to edit and open Picnik and edit it. I save it. It then saves it to Picassa web albums. Then I open it up there and save it to my desktop. Then I upload into My Page. It isn't hard; just time consuming to do one photo. All the programs are free and do basic editing...it is really fun. Have you ever used editing software? I started working with Picassa because it has the very basics. I do a lot more to my pictures than just borders. You can change exposure, colour saturation, etc. It gives my pictures that "pop" that I like. If you want to know more just ask. Thanks for all your compliments...I am behind in writing because I have been doing 5 pictures and 2 videos.
Thanks! Excited is an understatement LOL! Luckily I have a few weeks to research and get everything ready. I like your Cardigan. He has some really cool markings and looks pretty clever.
hi natalie...sorry I missed your comment on my page. thanks for writing! Simon and Blue are 7 and every bit as goofy as when they were puppies. don't ya just love those silly blue merle corgis? and the black and white ones, and the tri-colors, and the brindles, and the...(can anyone name them all?) :-)
Lance is adorable. I love blue merles. I've told Lucas dozens of times that our next dog family is going to be one Pem and one blue merle Cardi.
I saw in your blog that you have trouble with Lance pulling. Ein is the exact same way. The only thing I have found that works is an anti-pull harness that we got from Walmart. Unlike a traditional harness, the part you attach the leash too goes under their front legs, so if they pull too hard, it tightens on their front legs to tell them to slow down. We tried products like the gentle leader, and Ein just flopped around like a fish out of water and then sat down and sulked. He did not like it at all. However, I do still have it if you want to give it a try, I can send it to you. I don't have the instructions page that says how to put it on, but you might be able to get that from the website? Not sure.
