About Me:
I live in a small town in central Washingtong state. I have 2 grown boys, 3 cats, 40 Koi, 1 lovebird and now I have 2 Pembroke Welsh Corgis! I am a stay at home Mom so I get to spend most of my time with my critters.I had never had the pleasure of meeting a Corgi until last summer while camping, the people camping near us had a Corgi. It was love at first sight. Id never had a dog tug at my heart like that one did and I set out finding myself one. It took me nearly 4 months to find LaVerne but she was worth the wait. I believe that Corgis are like potato chips. You cant have just one, so I got Shirley on May 19th 2009! She is the perfect addition to our family!
Welsh Corgi Breeder?
No
About My Corgi(s):
I just got my bouncing baby Corgi girl on Oct. 26 08. She is 8 weeks old and I am already hopelessly in love with her. Im exhausted and so happy and she seems to be quite happy too!
Her name is LaVerne and she is tri-colored. I dont like to brag but....I do believe she is the most beautiful dog Ive ever seen! :-)
On May 19th 2009, Shirley turned 8 weeks old and she came home to live with us. She and LaVerne instantly became best pals. They are so much fun to watch!
I have:

It's been a long time since I seen Laverne. She has grown up so fast and look... Shirley. How adorable, congradulations.
• Carolyn Allen

i just read the art of racing in the rain and i thought it was amazing!
i love that the dog is telling the story. another good book is the curious incident of the dog in the night. and im currently reading "dont lets go to the dogs tonight" both are very good.
• John Wolff

Did Laverne & Shirley come from the same breeder/parents? Are they "blackheaded" tris? Laverne seems to have kept more black than I'd expect -- or maybe her pattern is still changing?
Al had a lot of black on his face/ears as a pup; now he has none. Gwynn kept only a little. The black frame is dramatic.
Gosh, beautiful dogs.
• Denise Jay

your corgis are stunning!
• Wendy West

Thank you for your kind words. Wendy and Lily
• Mary

Hi! I'm so glad you had the pro collar for laverne's spay surgery. I found out about it from one of your pictures. Nibbler had the plastic collar from the vet, but she kept getting stuck to the ground because of how short she is! So I went and bought the pro collar and it is soooo much better. Thank you!
• Mary

When we were home while she was recovering, we had Nibbler on a leash because she is very energetic. Even with the leash on sometimes she'd attempt corgi laps around my ankles! Crazy puppy. Today was the first day we could take off the leash and collar and boy is she happy! I totally know what you mean about the corgi personality. If I'm having a hard day at work I just think about my soft silly puppy and it makes me feel better :). They really are fantastic dogs.
• Sam and Finley

Thank you for the hello! Finn has totally won me over =) Lavern and Shirley are supppper cute!! and what great names. They look related! I've been enjoying watching Finn's color change as she gets older, did/are Lavern and Shirley changing much?
• Joanna, Rainy and Calvin

I love your pictures of the girls! They are adorable! Thanks for sharing them with us!!
• Buddy & Wynstan

Lol, I am driving everyone crazy, my girlfriend is the only one that is as excited as me. I have everything ready and it is almost heart breaking seeing an empty crate in the house
• Kat and Kes

Thanks for the friendship! I love your babies, they are so beautiful! I want my next one to be black tri.
• Marion and Vern

Thanks for the comment on Sami's picture. Your girls are soooo beautiful. gives me high hopes, for sometime next fall we will be getting either a brother or a sister for Sami. Couldn't even imagine getting one from anyone but Wendy. The breeder we got Sami from. We will all be making the trip back east, over 3,000 miles round trip, to pick the new baby up. I'm so excited to meet her in person and have Sami see all her relatives. Again thanks for the comment.
• Carolyn Allen

My new favorite picture is #45! I love it!
• John Wolff

A question re ticks east of the Cascade Crest:
What's the favorite flea/tick treatment in on the east side? We don 't worry about ticks much on the west side, but I take the dogs to Vantage in early spring, and later to the Teanaway, and places like the Chiwaukums.
We've used Advantix successfully, but now I'm leery of the permethrin in it. Do people use Frontline on the east side;? does it work for ticks?
When is the heaviest tick season over there?
• John Wolff

Huh, that's funny...you're Wenatchee, right? I'd figured the only place we were getting ticks (certain seasons) was east of the crest, like Icicle Canyon, Chiwaukums, like that... and my pal says they get 'em on Umptanum Ridge when the takes the doig there (early spring?). Thanks for the info.
• Lucy & Ricky (Wendy/Jack )

I'm so confused...nothing new about that! I sent you 2 comments a few minutes ago and wonder if you got them. On my page it looks like a sent my 2 comments to myself!
Once again let me tell you how much I love your girls. I can't wait to show them to my husband.
• Lucy & Ricky (Wendy/Jack )

We would love to get a tri baby. One of the people I met on this site told her friend about my breeder, Tim Mathiesen, Nebriowa Corgis, and she sent me this 6 sec. video of them at my breeder's place with her new baby tri:
http://drop.io/lez6qny/asset/no-6second-avi?ref=yahoo.
When we got Lucy he had 3 litters and all were R&W. Are both your gorgeous girls from the same breeder?
• Lucy & Ricky (Wendy/Jack )

It's hard to believe that you never saw a corgi until camping and yet you got 2 of the most stunning corgis I've seen, and I've owned corgis for forty years. While I've never met a corgi I didn't love, LaVerne and Shirley are amazing. Great markings, regal head and they love each other. Amazing! Corgis make every day valentine's day, so I have no doubt that you guys are going to have a wonderful valentine's day.
• Lucy & Ricky (Wendy/Jack )

OK. I made my husband look at photos of LaVerne and Shirley & he actually looked at every last one. He was enchanted like me. Who's the breeder(s) of LaVerne and Shirley?
• LaVerne & Shirley

Awwwwww....Im touched you liked the picture enough to want to forward it. That is more than fine with me! :o)
I got my girls from 2 different breeders but they both have Sosa lines. LaVerne came from Onalaska near Olympia WA and Shirley is from Ellensburg WA not far from here. I do believe they are both expecting litters. Here is the website to the breeder in Ellensburg. www.heartbarx.com. As shown on the website they do genetic testing which is comforting The girl I got LaVerne from doesnt have a website but I can find her number if you are interested. I think they are taking deposits on the pups. I am very happy with both of my girls. Very smart and sweet dispositions. OH OH! I just checked Heartbarx.com and they had a litter of pups 4 days ago! 6 boys and 2 girsl! She already has their pictures up!!!
Goodness the video you sent of that tri puppy is so cute. I just watched it again. What a beautiful puppy. His markings are a lot like LaVernes.
• Lucy & Ricky (Wendy/Jack )

I showed my husband the heartbarx site and he was ready to get the 14 mo. old male sable. He is a handsome looking boy, but if I do get another, I really want a tri puppy. But, I may just give them a call and find out what the story is on the male. BTW, I didn't see the pictures up of the newest litter. I'll look again. I have posted a photo of Lucy's litter mates. Her breeder doesn't have a website.
• DeeDea & Pudge

very funny you say that.... but yeah, mycorgi.com and youtube videos of corgis are totally getting me through my days! that was a really sweet comment you left. i can't wait until i get my furbabies too!!
• Marion Hebert

I was just reading your comment and you mentioned Conconully (sp)....Where is this? I am so sorry to hear about that darling Corgi being stolen by the coyotes...they are a huge problem where my daughter lives in Arvada, Co. She can see them sitting just behind her fence waiting for one of the dogs or cats to come to them.....There is a walking path a little up the hill from her home and there have been attacks on pets being walked in the area. Scary!!!
• Ashley and Copper

You are too funny and so witty. I love it! I'm the same way. talk to the paw. ha I live in Ohio so that is quite a way but my uncle lives in WA state also. I was thinking about making a trip there this summer. Maybe I will come back with a baby! I want to get Cop a friend or girlfriend or sister. However they choose I suppose. My mom got a female for her male dog to breed (long haired chihuahuas, not fans but both are too sweet) and they are like brother and sister. Nothing more! lol

• Debbie Landrie

We are looking for a black head female as well. Raising black heads is the goal for our program.
We have a litter of puppies now out of Mari. Mari is 4 years old - so we may get 1 or 2 more litters from her. We are looking for a female to take her place.
We think we have 2 black heads from this cross, but it is a little to early to tell. If they do turn out to be black heads - I will probably keep a female from the next litter.
I'm trying to make sure I pick a nice female that will compliment Gus.
• Angela

Yep, finally - thanks for the love!
• John Wolff

Oh yeah, Debbie Landry, Heartbarx -- she's here on MyCorgi. I've talked to her.
• Aj

Thank you so much, I truly appreciate it.
• Ramona

Thank you for the comment! I love your Corgis! It's true about them being potato chips, you can't just have one. I'm looking for a tri-color for my next one!
• Scooter

aww thanks, yours is oh so beautiful too!
• Samantha, Ian, & Toast

Thank you! People are always commenting on her name - we originally tried to pick something serious, but Toast ended up being the name that fit.

I love your pups! If I ever get another Corgi, I'm definitely going tri-color :)
• Emily Schroeder

Thank you for your comment!

I actually have one of those holy roller thingies. Zephyr loves that too, but she lost it somewhere. She's so funny! I buy her a new ball every week and she puts them somewhere! I have no idea where though!

We've decided to call our new puppy "Wydget" now. It's something the family finally agreed with. (and I can spell it with a "y" so that it matches Zephyr :D)
• Gromit, Sparkle, and Doug

Thanks for comment, sorry the remembrance for W&T made you cry but frankly, I still do when I re-read it and I'm a big, tough, manly fellow. ;-)

Yes, your two Corgi pals have a familiar look about them to me. W&T's dad was a champion and sired more than 15 champions so he's embedded in the bloodlines of an awful lot of Corgis out there. I commented on another site how much a Canadian ladies' Corgis looked my my old pals and it turned out the indeed, they were related! Even my new pal Gromit is his great-great grandson.
• Enzo E

You are like the 100th person to mention the book. I really need to read it. We actually picked his name cause we are really into cars. So its after Enzo Ferrari, the founder of Ferrari.
• Gail and Ashton

Sorry so long to reply! It would have been great if you could make it out for herding but graduation and family comes first. Please give a big grats to the grad too!! As long as they don't cancel herding I will come back with a full report. :)
• Bev Levy

Thanks, always glad to help! Your corgis are beautiful. I love tri 's anyway!
• Judi, Dawn, Soffie & Griffyn

Yup.... just plain old frozen cut green beans!! We feed them right out of the bag!!

Funny story..... Dawn was cooking dinner and had purchased a nice big bag of fresh green beans. While she was preparing them she thought, oh here's a nice treat, fresh green beans. And she gave one to each of our two. Griffyn, gobbled his right up!!! Soffie, chewed hers around a little bit in her mouth, crinkled her nose, and SPIT IT OUT!!! LOL!!! .... no fresh stuff for her!! : )
• Judi, Dawn, Soffie & Griffyn

Thanks!! Funny... I was just thinking the same thing about your two!! I love the picture where one is looking from behind the other. Both their faces are soooooo sweet!! I think all us corgi lovers are the same. If we could we'd have as many as we could handle. My dream is to win the lottery and buy a big piece of property and have corgis corgis everywhere!!! : )
• Gail and Ashton

Thinking of you LaVerne! Get well soon! -Ashton
• Gail and Ashton

I left a post on your blog entry but wanted to post here too. :) I am so sorry to hear about poor LaVerne! We are sending get well wishes. At least Shirley gets to go play on the agility equipment! Ashton totally loves it. His first trial is going to be the spring agility trial here in ML. John has been practicing with him and it's been a great weight loss program for him. He has already lost over 30 lbs! Unfortunately I think all that weight he lost I found! LOL I'm sending happy vibes to LaVerne for a speedy recovery and to Shirley for running fast and clean in agility. Take care and be sure to drop me a note if there is anything I can help with. <3
• Carolyn Allen

Hey there! Long time no talk! How are you and the dogs? What's new! I want details!!!! :)
-Carolyn
• Joanna, Rainy and Calvin

Been thinking about LaVerne and hoping that she is feeling better and that things are going well. Lots of love and corgi kisses from us!
• Gail and Ashton

Just wanted to stop by and say hi! Hope all is going well. We are gearing up for Ashton's first agility trial here in Moses at the end of March. Then he heads into his first Rally Excellent trial in April at our spring show. I am not even handling him and I am a nervous wreck! Sending you well wishes and hope the girls are happy and healthy! :)
• Lucy & Ricky (Wendy/Jack )

Ooops. Sorry, I addressed you as LaVerne bec. the previous person did. I often get called Lucy on this site. Anyhow, I'm Wendy and I've been admiring the photos of LaVerne and Shirley. They are oh so beautiful with great markings. Hope LaVerne has recovered from her shoulder injury.
• Lucy & Ricky (Wendy/Jack )

I have no idea. I've had corgis my whole life. My parents had corgis and I've raised my kids with corgis. The kids moved out and we still have corgis. Can't imagine life without 'em! hmmm, well some days we can imagine life w/o Ricky/Rafa! haha.
