Corgis on the move!!!

Posted on July 22, 2011 at 1:51am 10 Comments

Well here is for some very exciting news. Max and Zoey (with mom and dad of course) will be moving. We are upgrading from our little apartment to a 3 bedroom 2 bath duplex with a fenced yard. When we started looking I refused to get anything without a yard. Nothing but the best for our pups! Max and Zoey are going to love it and I can see their bordum going straight down the drain. Lots of room to FRAP!!!! So wish us luck on our big move tomorrow! I'll post some… Continue

google it.   Umtanum Ridge, south of Ellensburg on SR 821.  I've heard that ticks can be heavy there at certain seasons (spring?).  There's a trailhead with a pedestrian suspension bridge.  Occasionally closed at lambing time for bighorn sheep?  Stiff uphill hike, to maybe 3500' at the microwave relay.  Road-accessible up top, so expect hunters.

Just hiked Umtanum ridge with a pal.  Great dog hike.  Saw several hunters (it is road-accessible) and heard a lot of shooting in the distance. So wear safety hunter-orange colors.  I flag the dogs with day-glo magenta survey ribbon, I only trust 99% of the hunters, and a corgi can look lie a fox in tall grass.  It was cold, snow.  I'm told the tiocks can be heavy there in warmer weather.  Wide-open up on top, 3500'.

This is one of the last of the 1400 pics I took on our 5-day Labor Day trip;  I'm so glad you got to see this magic place:

Sorry so long to reply! This summer has been beyond busy! I really hope we can meet up one of these days for some corgi fun. This coming weekend is the Wenatchee Dog Show but we got so behind on stuff we missed the cut off for entries, shoot! So we are headed to Fall City instead for some Coursing. But we will be entering the agility trial in Wenatchee next month! If you can come out you should check it out. Ashton is still in the Novice class but hopefully he'll get a couple of titles in Wenatchee! (keep your fingers crossed!)

I am so happy you guys are getting into obedience and got to meet Jeff. He is such a sweet guy and does tons and tons of stuff with his dogs. Maybe you'll be ready for competition by the time the Moses Lake show rolls around this spring! (hint, hint) As extra incentive John and I donate a corgi specific prizes in Rally and we'll probably add prizes for obedience too. :D

Hope all is well and the corgi kids aren't melting in this heat! Definitely keep in touch and hopefully we'll cross paths soon! Take care!!

Thanks so much for the info and the contact! Much appreciated. For a long time we had our hearts set on a puppy but we would absolutely consider 5 months old. We've contacted breeders all over Washington and Oregon, no place is too far if they have our puppy! Thanks again, we look forward to hearing from you.

Thanks for the information.  We've been through just about every type of classified we can come across to try and find a tri male pup.  If you would be willing to give your breeder a call and see if they have any knowledge of anyone with pups or having them soon that would be a tremendous help.

Really appreciate it.  Thanks in advance.

What your breeder's name?  Ours (Carrie Hale) likely knows her.

Did you ever get up to Spider Meadows?  It's a very popular place -- there were lots of cars at the trailhead when Al & I spent the night on Mt. Maude and Al passed his Porcupine Test.

Get over to Ancient Lakes, there's a big loop hike you can do, great in winter when it's cooler.

Hey, who'd you get Zoey from?
At 1:14am on July 12, 2011, John Wolff said…
Do you get a lot of ticks on the east side? Al brought one home in mid-June, when we went to the Teanaway, even though I'd put Advantix on hime the night before we left. The wood/dog ticks are supposedly on the east side of the Cascades, but I sort of recall seeing a range map showing that deer ticks (which vector Lyme disease) are on the wet west side. They're smaller, harder to spot. Don't know if I've ever seen one.
