Our Corgi Story

Posted on September 23, 2007 at 11:28am 2 Comments

When my wife and I got married, we dog sat for a friend of ours, who had a corgi. Having this dog for the weekend changed our lives! As a result we said that at some point in the future we would get a corgi. In 2003 we moved from Maryland to Saint Louis to begin chiropractic school. We found Pet Second Chance via the web and fell in love with this picture of "lady" a corgi who had been left behind by previous owners. We visited, had her over to our house and said, "this is the… Continue

Primarily I am a "human chirorpactor" by day, but I adjust my corgis myself. To do it for a living, i woudl have to be a DVM who took an animal chirorpactic certification. Strange huh, i can adjust adults for a living with a 5 year DC degree, but cant do it legally for animals? SO yes i do both, but just on my personal dogs. But there are docs out there that are just animal chiropractors.

Do you do chiropractic care on animals or humans?

Animal chiropractic is the art, science and philosophy which uses the inherent recuperative powers of the body and deals with the relationship between the nervous system and the spinal column and its associated structures. Remember, the power that made the body, heals the body, it happens no other way.

Adjusting corgi's is crucial because of their shape and design. Their low riding frame places extra stress onto their spine and discs. Most corgi's have arthritis in the spine by the age of 6-7 and owners don't even have a clue!

If interested, google Animal Chiropractic in your home town to find a certified Animal Chiropractor, and they are typically also DVMs as well.

We adjust ours using what is called Activator Methods, which you can look more into at www.activator.com. The technique is primarily for humans, but on the lowest setting it works wonders for dogs of all breeds!

Soon as i figure out how this page works Ill post everything! As of now, we adopted 2 corgi's from Pet Second Chance. The first was Ladybug. We had her for about 1 year realizing that corgi's need to have another around. So we got cisco, again from PSC and they have been having a ball ever since. Photos soon to come!
