Introducing Brody!

I told you how Max & Katie's breeder took back one of her dogs and how our emails crossed with me updating her on Max's condition and her wanting to know if we would be interested in this guy.  Well, you can't argue with fate.  Things happen for a reason.  The earliest he will be coming to live with us is mid to late October...she is very busy right now with shows, she is…

My New Grandpuppy!

She's not a corgi but I have to show her off anyways.  She...who doesn't have a name yet...is a 3 month old black GSD.  My daughter picked her up Friday and things appear to be going very well.  No accidents the first night at all and no whimpering being in a…

Happy Birthday Max!!!

I can't believe my Max turned 13 today.  We didn't get to share the first 5 years of his life but he was there at the perfect time to join our family.  He is still a happy, healthy dog...a little slow to get up sometimes and doesn't hear as…

Good Thoughts For Katie

Please keep good thoughts for Katie tomorrow.  She has a growth on her right front leg and it's being removed.  It doesn't feel like a fatty cyst but it's not attached to the bone so that is good.  The vet wasn't sure so he wants to remove it and then send it to pathology.

Katie will be 11 next month, she is such a sweet girl...loving and a total velcro dog.  Your good thoughts will be much appreciated.

Need Some Help For A Friend...The One Who Lost Her Pup To Parvo

For those who may remember my posts on the thread regarding parvo about my friend who lost her brand new pup immediately after getting her.  She brought the pup home on a Thursday late afternoon, by the next day the pup was sick and at the vet's, the diagnosis was parvo.  The vet treated the pup for 4 days but she was so young she just couldn't fight it.  This pup...chocolate lab...along with several of it's litter mates were released to their new owner's at 6 weeks....several hours after…

Max Is Having Surgery Tomorrow

He has a subcutaneous lipoma low on his side.  For those who don't know what they are, they are a fatty growth that is common to older dogs.  These are not cancer.  Normally they stay small and don't need to be removed...I think just about all my older dogs have had them.  The one Max has is low on his side and it grew quickly and large, about the size of a softball. The vet said she can close her fingers almost completely on the inside of the growth which means it's not attached to…

Canine Influenza Virus

Anyone else hearing about this?  Apparently it's a new virus and dogs just don't have any kind of immunity to it.  There is a vaccine.  It hits them just like it hits us...some not so bad and some very seriously.  I would say it's something that those who take their dogs to dog parks, doggy day care and where ever there is a group of dogs getting together should be very aware of.…

Certifect..Has Anyone Heard Of This?

It's some kind of flea and tick stuff.  I just heard from a good friend that she used it on her dockie and the pup is now in the hospital.  It's a full grown dog, right dosage was used.  Dog started staggering, ice cold, low respiration...not good at all.  I researched it because I have never heard of it and the many many of the reviews were bad.  A number of dogs have died from it.  One review I read was from a vet.

Anyone have any experience with it?

Happy 11th Birthday Max!

My baby boy is 11 years old!  I can't believe it!  He is my buddy, my shadow, my sidekick and I don't know what I would do without him.

Hubby and I had a disagreement as to when his birthday was, I had to pull his AKC papers to show him.  While I was doing that I decided to google his parents.  Don't know why I didn't do it a long time ago.

His father is CH Highleigh Whatchamacallit from S. Africa.  Now I know where he got his big boned look from.  Other than the fact that Max…
