Heyy everyone, this is Siduri's daughter, Becca. She has let me take over the corgi page, since she doesn't have the time for it. :)
Jake is doing well. I took him down to the sea wall on Weds., and he ran around with my boyfriend and had a long walk. He met many new dogs, and I don't think he really reacts well with other animals. He does okay if he's on his home turf, though, so I'm trying to get my friend's chocolate lab puppy over to play with him.
He likes summer. I'm…

Spring is here and Jake is out and about in the yard. There has been no rain, so the yard is dry and that means lots of running and running. He is very chummy with Guiness in the yard behind us. We had initially thought his name was Dennis as we could hear the owner calling him, but the lady talked to me last week and she said his name is Guiness as he is black and tan-seems to be a Rott/Lab mix. Big dog but very sweet. They love to run along the fence line together and once the lady clears…

The past month or so has been frantically busy with me trying to get my ex situated in a nursing home-no success yet. And kid stuff never ends.
We also now have two new black kitties. One is a female age 10, the other a male, age 3. Jake was less then thrilled at suddenly being the youngest in the house, so he let me know in no uncertain terms by digging holes in the yard. I have yet to actually catch him at it, in order to discipline him. The female kitty has made herself known to…

We had a splendid morning yesterday, we went to the beach and rolled in the sand. I won't let Jake off the leash so he can't chase the gulls but he was quite interested by them. He got tired, though. It was a long walk. Today we have a storm so there is no walking. He went out and half the back is flooded again, so he can't even play with the neighbor dog.
He completely demolished one toy in the afternoon and worked on his Kong quite diligently. I need to get him more treats at the…

Jake totally slept in today with the rain and lightening. I don't think he even noticed. He is rather antsy, of course, but the weather has not be conducive to a good walk.
But, he is a very busy Corgi nonetheless. Up and down the stairs in search of the quintessential place to hide one's cheewie! I noticed he has not been really chewing on the rawhide, rather he carries them lovingly from place to place and then attempts to hide them.
I am going to try and bake some dog…

We had a nice walk yesterday, but it was still too cold. The harness is working out well, so I will try and go out with him more during the week-although it is just too cold to enjoy a leisurely walk in the early evening.
We did have a very good weekend and played quite a lot all over the house. I am glad to see him settling in so well. He seems to be getting the idea that he can't get anything over on R, any more then he can with me or my mother. He is behaving very well when left…

Buys week for everyone. Jake has his two week anniversary with us on Thursday. So far, he is doing just great! He has his moments...one thing we have noticed is that when he is allowed to sit on the sofa or the bed with my daughter he growls at her after a time. She immediately sends him off and says NO, I wonder if he is trying to be the alpha dog with her. He does not do it with either me or my my mother.
He has gotten a bunch of new toys and plays with them quite vigorously!…

We are certainly the busiest Corgi in the world these days. Yesterday was spent running in circles with the various toys to hide, demolish or toss in the air. The ball no longer makes a sound....which is to be expected.
We also got a lecture on asking for permission to things-Jake picked up his water bowl and decided he wanted it closer to his bed. Of course, the water spilled on the floor. So, my mother gave him a lecture on needing to ASK for help with such things and the water…

Haha, we had a sleepover last night. Becca took Jake's crate into her room and they had a sleepover. He was rather puzzled at first, but I think he was happy to have company. And he snores apparently...
It was a busy day for him once again...he loves to empty his toy bin and select what he is going to play with that afteroon. Today he got up early as my mother is out for the morning. We are really not a morning Corgi...
I found this…

Yesterday was a fun day with yet more barking at the neighbors. They pay Jake no attention, but he thinks he is being Capt. American, clearly.
I went to the store early to get odds and ends, and picked up some cookies and other goodies. Looked for a new collar and harness but none were to be had. So, we got a big rawhide bone (big), new ball (the one he came with went out in the trash as he had punctured it finally and was biting off bits of plastic) a soft pillow toy and a rope toy.…

We had one busy Corgi last night. About one am, he began to bark. I thought he might need to go out, so I got up and put him out-nope. It was the crazy neighbor out there chopping wood and running his truck up and down the drive in an effort to flatten the ice down. Shoveling the day before might be easier and certainly preferable, but no...Jake went ballistic and ran up and down the fence barking and growling. His voice still cracks a bit...
Today I got up early and went to the…

Such a mess out there today. Not fun to play in at all. The sleepover was a lot of fun, we had the undivided attention of three girls and we got so tired out, we had to go to bed early. Thank heavens for cozy crates!
Jake took his ball out in the snow and had fun pushing it around. The girls threw snowballs for him to chase as well. And a big snow man was built. Which was scary this am, because there was much barking, growing and finally the lifting of the leg to be sure that big old…

Finally we are getting snow. Real snow. It has been the pattern that we get a lot of sleet, my plow guy clears it and then sends me the bill-and whatever is on the ground is long gone by the time I get it! I think this time I may pay a bill that is actually worth it, haha.
I am not sure Jake is all that thrilled although I think he wants someone to go out and play with him rather then be out alone. He is being naughty and was nipping,…

Jake has a bad experience yesterday. While R had him out on the leash for his walk, a big dog came out of nowhere and ran at him. Somehow, he got out of his collar and ran! Fortunately, R went straight after him, called him and he turned back and jumped into her arms. Good Jake! She carried him home and all is well. I was NOT happy that we can't even go for a walk without some loose dog bothering us. Well, that is how people take care of their dogs, just open the front door and let them out. Of…

Jake has decided barking is a wonderful thing. Last night he barked at our next door neighbor. Today he barked at the wind and the leaves rustling around in the yard. He sounds so cute, his voice is not quite mature yet-it starts out a bit deep and then suddenly it cracks. I had heard he did not quite have a grownup Corgi bark yet.
I decided to phase out the rawhide chewies as they are not a good idea overall. I have quite a few as I got a a few bags of them early on, but as long as…

Finally no rain. Jake was not pleased with having to go out in torrential rain. He was very good, though, went out and did his business and then ran for the door. R took him for a short walk as well. He wanted to go for a walk after dinnre but I had to tell him no as it was pouring again. Had to settle for an evening of hugs, and playing with toys.
This morning was much better, he went out happily. He is starting to understand words such as "potty" so he knows when we tell him to go…

We are having a wet day including a skylight leaking...so, no long walks for today! Jake is doing well with his housebreaking and barked to go out in the morning. Thankfully, he is not a morning Corgi, so I can get ready for work and he sleeps until someone else is up. The afternoon fun is limited to Jolly Ball rolling in the family room. Tomorrow should be a much better if colder day, so at least he can go out and play with his new friend, Dennis, the Rott mix in the next yard over. They can…

Jake had a busy day today. He discovered his Jolly Ball and found it very intriguing. He also went to the beach for the first time e-vuh. Apparently, he found the waves a bit alarming and ran from them, but the sand was way fun and the seagulls worthy of herding. So much to discover! And then home to play soccer with my daughter and her boyfriend.
We have a tired boy in his bed now. But, he had a lot of fun...and tomorrow is rain, so…

Good day yesterday. Lots and lots of walks and play time. We had one small incident of growling, so R put him firmly on the floor, said no and gave him a time out.
He is drinking his water now and quite regularly. No accidents-yet. He is a bit afraid of the yard still, so I go out with him or wait at the door. One thing that helps is that the Rott mix in the back is out in his yard and Jake gets very excited and starts to run. The other dog is very friendly and gets excited, so they…

We had a bath this morning. And we are happily lapping up water, so that is a good thing. And a very long snooze with my daughter in her bed. Such is life. I guess he may decide to keep us...
