Ok. Here it is!

A water bottle that has some of her kibble in it and a few liver treats. At first she was really not sure what to do. She could smell it inside but couldn't figure out how to get to it. She has grown stronger since last week when we introduced it and now has figured out how to bat it around on our back porch and have food sling out of it. She also likes trying to go straight to it by biting the bottle in the middle and it makes great crackling sounds. We are watching to see how it holds up, but strangely enough it is doing great. Thank heaves we have a large supply of replacement bottles.

I think I saw this idea on this site, so THANKS to who ever recommended it! I would love more cheap toy ideas!

George also loves to tear through cardboard... so any old boxes I'm throwing away go through the "Corgi Shredder (tm)" first =) As an added bonus, I'll throw some treats in there to motivate him even more. Paper towel/toilet paper tubes work too. Just stick food in the middle and fold down the ends. It's great fun for them, and it channels the destructive tendencies that all puppies have.

OMG I do the same thing. Just came up w/ the idea on my own. I just make sure it's only when he's supervised. I don't want any plastic shards coming off. Probably pretty difficult for them to do, but you never know. Just FYI, I use bottles like Gatorade/Powerade and Vitamin water, since they tend to be sturdier bottles than Poland Spring and the like.

He leaves my feet alone, he does however try to steal socks from the dryer or anywhere I leave them out. But that started well before I gave him his own sock and most dogs do it anyway, no idea why. He doesnt attack socks on feet, only socks on floor. Dogs live in a whole world of smells, if you let him have a sock, he wont think he can have ANY sock due to the smell. Well in theory, I have yet met a dog that isnt a sock-bandit. Mabye that's why I made him a sock toy, because he likes them so much?

Lucy has a little squirrel one of our boys bought that has a hairlike tail and sqeeker inside. Dr. Noys toys I believe. It is the perfect size for her mouth, but I understand about nasty though....

I will try your sock trick, but worry she'll start attacking our feet when they are in our socks. Does de Cheez attack your sock clad feet?

Put a little food in a sock, then roll it up into a ball. You know, that "fold the sock onto it'self ball". Then place it inside another sock with 2-3 more pieces of food and tie it off. That has worked well for me, his favorite toy still seems to be that stupid snake squeeky thing though. It's getting real nasty too.

lol. my bailey LOVES water bottles!!! whenever im done with one, i remove the cap and label and make crackly noises. Bailey pretty much goes bonkers, does a dance, and then i throw it. He chases it around the kitchen a couple of times, then attacks! clack clack clack...... about 10 minutes later, its completely flattened and i dump it into our recycle can. LOL. I joke and tell him he helps me with the recycle by crushing them.. even Bailey cares about the environment, you know!

The only other cheapie toy I invented courtesy of reading others' ideas on this site is the ole towel tied in a rope - bailey has fun laying on this back with one end of the towel in his mouth and him swatting with both paws at the knot in hte middle. its so cute to watch. =P
